I do not find Japan to be a spectacular vacation spot unless you go the rich neighbourhoods in Japan where everything is beautiful, tasty and expensive. If you go to a regular place in Japan to save money, you do not get an amazing experience from it. That is why I like Mexico, because it is possible to have a luxurious experience on a much lower budget then what it costs to have a luxurious experience in Japan, not to mention, the plane ride to Mexico is a lot shorter than the plane ride to Japan, so that factors in as well.

Dubai. It feels a bit like a giant, air-conditioned shopping mall in the desert. If you love luxury and architecture it's great, but it lacks that authentic 'soul' and cultural grit you find in other places. I prefer destinations where you can actually walk around and feel the local history.

Does anyone know how on earth, the Dominican Republic (Punta Cana) is the most visited place in the Caribbean?

Though I'm sure there are more overrated ones, but I haven't been to them.

Most big cities are overrated
You find yourself wandering with nothing to do but the places are packed with people who do have jobs and don’t have time to indulge your vacation

Best vacations are done in less crowded places
Beaches, mountains, islands, and so on.
A place where time slows down not speeds up
