What's the most over-rated tourist destination you've visited?

For me it's Bourbon St: smells like urine, lots of loud young men, scam artists, & panhandlers and tacky souvenir shops. Of all the streets in the French Quarter, Bourbon St is the worst. Much nicer place in other parts of the French Quarter.

I do t really have a good answer, as I have liked everywhere I've gone pretty well. But I was curious, where do you prefer to go over Bourbon Street? We may end up going down to New Orleans, so I am interested in knowing all the neat options available to look around

garden district, but if you're in the quarter: Royale St, the French Market, but look for local artists, not cheap chinese knock off crap, Jackson Square. The zoo and aquarium are good. A good place to eat in the Quarter is Felix's for turtle soup and oysters, but it can be pricey as much in the quarter is. My favorite restaurant is up the river in Jefferson: River Shack.

I agree with New Orleans. I worked there for a week and on the last day we visited the French Quarter. I thought it looked like a slum. We were not there during Mardi Gras so I figured it would be different then.

Waikiki. I spent a lot of time there some years back, and went back just last year. It had changed considerably for the worse. More crowded, more high-rises, just about unlivable. The beach is still nice but you have to get up at 6 AM to enjoy it.

Although now that I think about it Disney World is probably worse.

Valparaiso. It was known as the "San Francisco of South America" before SF turned into what it is now, but now the compassion is accurate. There are only 2 or 3 nice areas in the whole city. The rest of the city is full of grafitee, crumbling buildings, homelesses, drunks, tweakers and criminals. How this city gained such popularity is beyond me

I lived in Hollywood... the place is literally a shithole. I sort of respect the nature driven destinations... but the glitz and glam people-driven destinations are all shitholes.

I went Island hopping in Honda Bay, and went to El Nido and the Underground River. I've had a few Red Horses on the white sand beaches of Palawan
