I would like to see the museums in Florence first, Pompeii and the like in Naples second, the old churches in the northern region of Italy and Venice and Rome last. But you're talking about a month or more of seeing Iraly. There's a lot to visit!

Because it's the first Italian city I went to, it was quite a change of scene. Especially as a pedestrian, traffic there was a bit like Half-Life, once you unleash the big bugs. Better check all directions, even the sky, when you want to safely cross a street.

Venice and Rome are both pretty immediate but I picked Venice because I associate that more with Italy while I think of Rome in more ancient terms first.
