Japan is extremely safe. Also decently cheap, depending on how well you budget. At least they were before the new tourist laws, so that may have made it more expensive.

I have an old lady friend who loves to go to Thailand because it's insanely cheap, but I'm not sure how safe it is.

I don't know where you're from, but I personally wouldn't recommend Asia at all, if you've never been outside your country before.

Maybe try New Zealand

Ooooooof. Thailand is more interesting and isn't communist, but Vietnam is safer. Thailand is having some problems with Cambodia right now, though Vietnam also has it's dangers. But it's not like, you won't get killed or kidnapped and rape is also unlikely, but you might be harassed and extorted/scammed. I honestly don't know. Maybe Vietnam, Ha Long Bay

Japan has always been like that, it's as if they believe only their own race exists in the world and they just call other races foreign races. It's sad :'( I will definitely go to Korea, thank you so much for your recommendation. I'm going alone, that's why I wanted a safe country.🥺

Not that only THEIR race exists, but they believe that THEY'RE perfect and everyone else is flawed and therefore below them and unworthy of equal treatment. But all Asians (at least East Asians), are like this, not just the Japanese. The saddest part though, is they complain about tourists and foreigners but don't ban them outright, because at the same time they want those tourist dollars. And one influencer does something stupid, suddenly they feel they need to make an entire neighborhood or festival off limits. They're so sensitive and act like THEY never do anything wrong. Even over small stuff. A normal person would tell someone nicely, but they immediately yell at you. "Calm and polite" my ass! I've heard stories about them starting fights with foreigners, and the FOREIGNER got arrested, because Japanese never wrong.

In South Korea, I at least heard if you're White, they treat you like a God. LOL If you're a light-skinned Turk with Mediterranean features, you can probably pass for White. Yeah, Korea would probably be better. There are a lot of young foreigners from all over the world working there.

I think Vietnam is a little cheaper and safer. You can't go wrong with either but Vietnam is my favorite country to visit.

If it’s your first trip abroad and you want it simple and social, I’d start with Thailand. If you want more adventure and don’t mind a bit more challenge, pick Vietnam.

Both countries qualify when you take the trouble to think on your own.
I find Thailand to offer a wider range of options for vacations, though.
As a basic guideline: don't fully trust people who speak to you first.
Don't trust traffic rules.

So you would stand out in an Asian country. Personally, I really disliked the street hustlers in Thailand, so I would rather visit the calmer Vietnam. Would be cheaper as well.
