Does anyone else find Fiji overrated?

I honestly don't understand the hype. It has nice beaches, lush mountains, waterfalls, traditional villages, Hindu temples, great scuba diving and 5 star resorts, BUT other islands have those things too plus MUCH more. Also, Fiji still has the culture of "What's yours is mine" and in many areas you still need to ask permission to use the beach.

I can name at least 7 places in the Pacific that are far more interesting than Fiji.

I only know what you've told me, and it seems very appealing to me.

But I probably would go first to the other 7 places in the Pacific that you can name, and you would prefer to visit.

Though if a friend asked me to go with them, I probably would go, and it would be another place I have visited.

The visual appearance which you can see through screens is less important than experiences and interactions. I never looked into these things but i imagine that having a special kind of airport can set a totally different experience without you noticing.
