I had to wait until 2016 was completely gone to post this article for obvious reasons.
When I heard that Carrie Fisher passed away I said to a friend "This was the cherry on the cake."
I was too quick to talk. One day later her mother was gone as well.
According to different online magazines, more than 130 celebrities passed away last year. I only knew a handful of them and certainly wasn't one of their greatest fans. But since I am a great Star Wars fan, I wanted to post this MyTake for all the Star Wars actors who became One with the Force in 2016.
Aletha McGrath (June 1, 1920 - February 9, 2016)
She was the Chief of the Jedi Archives in Episode II Attack of the Clones.
Gordon Henley (1940 - February 14, 2016)
He was the leader of X-Wing Red Squadron in Episode IV. I was happy to see him again in Rogue One in unused material from the 1977 original Star Wars.
Erik Bauersfeld (June 22, 1922 - April 3, 2016)
The voice for the iconic alien Admiral Ackbar.
Kenny Baker (August 24, 1934 - August 13, 2016)
Even people who are no Star Wars fans could recognise him. It was the man who brought R2-D2 to life. The scene in Episode VII The Force Awakens with C-3PO saying "Sadly, he will never be his old self again." now takes a whole new meaning with Baker's death.
Michael Leader (1938 - August 22, 2016)
He was a mere Stormtrooper who couldn't see good enough in his helmet and banged his head on the ceiling of the Death Star set he appeared, thus earning the name "Clumsy Death Star Stormtrooper"
Ian Liston (August 4, 1948 - October 1, 2016)
He had two minor roles in Episode V The Empire Strikes Back.
Peter Sumner (January 29, 1942 - November 22, 2016)
He had a short scene as a Security Officer in the same set of Clumsy Death Star Stormtrooper.
Carrie Fisher (October 21, 1956 - December 27, 2016)
The one that left us too soon. The iconic Princess Leia who was the first love of thousands of teenagers and helped them find their "lightsabers". She was a favourite for both guys and girls as her golden metal bikini became one of the most sexy cosplays for Star Wars fangirls around the world, so thank you Carrie Fisher for all the eye candy you're providing us. Rest in peace!

Rejoice for those around you who transform into the Force..."
