On a scale from "Eating Tide Pods" to "Don't Judge Me" challenge, this is somewhere in between. Not the worst Internet trend I've ever seen, not even by a mile, but it definitely leans towards Don't Judge Me. My main questions are "What viral marketing campaign started this?" and "What are they selling?" because there is absolutely no way some ordinary, unknown dumb teen concocted this idea in their spare time and everyone else decided to copy them for the lolz. This had to have been staged by a marketing agency or beauty-focused YouTuber or Instagram star. I mean, yes, it COULD have been some no-name person who originally posted this to social media, let's be honest: this is not the early days of the Internet anymore; people with no clout or reputation generally don't propagate ideas very far, especially when it comes to the domain of human attractiveness. We (generally) only look to more attractive people to decide for us what the barometer to desirability is.
Why would I say that? Because most or all of the girls featured in this video (and probably all the ones who participated in the challenge and uploaded it to social media--whatever it's called) are at least somewhat stereotypically attractive. They are "hot chicks", copying the actions of some "authority figure" (because I guarantee not a single one of them woke up in the morning and thought to themselves "y'know what? I bet I would look even more attractive, if I superglued by upper lip to my philtrum") and only an Influencer has that kind of power.
I think it's likely not widespread but will become so if the media keeps talking about it. That's what happened with the tidepod challenge. Over the course of a month there had only been about 112 videos of it on youtube, once the media covered it, 10x that number of videos were published in a week. I think we should stop giving attention to this sort of thing as it isn't helpful and has a way of encouraging it even if our words are all condemnation. As the saying goes, all publicity is good publicity.

Superglue will only hold the weight of your upper lip for maybe an hour or 2, so not quite an effective fuller lip solution compared to 4-12hr lip plumping cosmetics.

I don't think that's super glue though, it looks more like liquid latex. None the less, it looks ridiculous.
All in the name of beauty has been a driving force for countless contraptions and products through history. The Victorian woman would use lead powder and arsenic to color her face, plus squeeze into deforming corsets. Some tribes in Africa elongate women's necks. The Almec people would deform babies heads. Modern women are no different.
It really seems like people are getting stupider all the time. Super glue specifically says on the label to keep it off of your skin. It’s not made as a cosmetic product and shouldn’t be used as one. People always complain that the generation after there’s is the stupidest, and to me it seems like the next generation is always looking for a way to prove that they’re the ones to hold that position.

For the most part I do believe that they (most of the girls) are using a adhesive agent that is safe to put on human skin like liquid latex, eyelash glue, and or spirit gum. But maybe some of these girls actually do try to use super glue (which is not safe for human skin and it's also not fun to get off) And yeah this is a stupid trend.

the thing with the internet these days is anything goes and you have to wonder about the mental sate of teens today. I grew up in a time this dint exist and I was always the odd one out and a late developer when most girls at my school were having sex or bragging about it i wasn't. If guys started liking natural or thin lips, girls wouldn’t do this shit. guys don’t realize the effect they cause on women. My dad swallowed goldfish. I smoked banana peels. There's nothing new in people generating fads. This seems less harmful than detergent pods and play piercings. As long as the lips don't get glued shut, doesn't matter much in my book.

I heard that they used eyelash glue, not superglue. Either way I think the challenge is dumb and pointless. Not mention it would look incredibly fake in real life.

doing cosmetic hacks especially with harmful methods or compounds.. im assuming they're retarded and poor. I'd prefer cheap basic make up like liptint + shade + wings. Or even better, take good care of those skin and go out with no make up (sun cream is always OK).
