Police get a call on a guy with a warrant for sexual assault. The guy then refuses to comply, goes to his vehicle and reaches in. Sorry, only a stupid cop waits for him to possibly turn around and open fire. Downvote me all you want, but this was his own damn fault.
There's a bit of stupid answers here. I live in Brazil, I've seen good cops and bad cops, in the inside it looks to me like a constant civil war. Y'all know nothing, the cop HAD TRAINING, he's supposed to IMMOBILIZE THE TARGET, instead of UNLOADING A GUN ON A HUMAN. This above is the point, yea he might be a criminal, a serial killer, but even if I'm a victim, I'd rather see him rotting in a jail than resting in peace, see the point kids? The cop had a parter, two useless cops, who tf sent them to handle a criminal case? c'mon they were supposed to do their job, no excuses both sides were wrong, but the cops who should've been bringing JUSTICE did wrong. See this point now? Hopefully it brightened your minds. Doesn't matter race, criminal or not, there's a law and procedure to be followed. The result is a cop unloaded a gun in an unarmed human, in the back even.
I'm not sure how they do things in Brazil. But here you're supposed to cooperate with the cops and not go against them or it will escalate situations.
The reason I bring up he has a criminal history is because the cops could check it. And if the cops points a gun at you and tells you to stop. But you reach into your car.
At that point the cops needs to do what they can to restrain him. Again I do think 7 shots seems excessive, but not all the details was released.
All I know is just based on the footage the guy resisted arrest and was reaching into his car. It doesn't make sense to me to allow the criminal to grab a weapon and use it before the cops open fire.
If he did have a weapon not only will that endanger the cops it will put other citizens in the area in danger as well.
One shot to the leg or foot should have been more than enough, or shoot the tires, no risk of getting away, they shouldn't even have allowed him get near the car and immobilized him before, they were walking casually, meaning they didn't know what they should do.
Their guns were drawn... They tried to pull him out but he resisted.
If you put yourself in that situation you're not going to be thinking about where to shoot and possibly missing. Cause let's face it if you do shoot the leg his entire upper body can still reach and grab a weapon if he had one. Besides we've already seen that they can easily reach for a cops gun when they're being wrestled to the ground.
When cops are pointing guns at you giving you warnings the smart thing to do is to put your hands up and not resist. Then this whole thing wouldn't have happened.
Although rare, some people don't care if there's a gun being pointed at them. You know the law says to immobilize, not shoot, we civilians assume a cop won't shoot if there's no one shooting. A cop is supposed to be trained to handle physical confrontations too, he should've said stop right now, then ask 3 times and shoot in the leg, or hands up, the guy was pretty calm, the cop should've assumed he didn't care about the gun.
I'm not sure if there's body cam footage, but if there is and it gets released I'm pretty sure that's what the cops are doing. It would be kind of weird if the cops just draw their guns and not say anything...
Again you don't see what happened before the shooting.
And like I mentioned before to me it makes no sense to only open fire once the criminal reaches a weapon and uses it. Cause again not only will it put the cops in danger it will put other people in danger as well.
Like if someone had a bomb you're not going to let him use it before you try and stop him.
Yea truly makes no sense rationally, but it starts making sense when there's a psychological reaction. Haven't read the context yet same as you, I also think it is weird to even have reached that point, usually the target is immobilized really fast because the police are professionals in that regard, and they make sure thats what they do, without suffocating or unloading a gun.
Cops are faced with difficult situations all the time where anything could happen. It would be nice if guns never have to be used, but at the time they decided to use them when the situation escalated.
I've seen body cam footage where a simple traffic stop turned into a shooting. Cause the guy reached for a gun.
If you cooperate things will be fine. Like the two passengers in Floyd's car. They provided ID and didn't give the cops a hard time and everything went fine.
Not being funny but the cops didn't have control of the situation jacob wouldn't have been able to get into his car
Also how much fo a pussy is that officer that has to keep firing into him...7 shots into his back...7 shots
So let's being honest the cops in this situation are shit no matter, nobody deserves to be paralysed because a shit cop couldn't take it that somebody didn't listen to them and that he couldn't do his job properly.
And for those saying he could have been getting a weapon... yea there's other cops, 1 good shot to the head sorts that shit out
This is something I can't fathom either. I'd cooperate , even if I felt I had been wronged. Then there's possible potential to put a claim in for false arrest. Or harassment. Being uncooperative just makes everything the cops to do you seem justified. Well, that's generally how it's perceived.
One less nonce off the street, the world should be rejoicing.. Not going oh the police shot a black guy, who gives a fk what colour he is.. Tamper with kids, get what you deserve.. Shoulda shot his dick off instead
you know nothing about guns or engagement with enemies if you put a limit on how many bullets they can fire. as many as it takes till they think the situation is over is the correct answer
Should he have cooperated with the cop? Yes! Was the cop and his partner unfit to be cops in the first place? Yes! You're looking at approximately 60% or more of the police force to be corrupted. It's a freemasonic organization. At 60%, you're in no position to be a role model to the public. The government literally authorizes certain cops to kill people who are a threat to their plans of the New World Order, then they have it marked down as a suicide to cover their tracks.
I can separate things just fine, okay. Number 1, I hate most humans very strongly, whether they are cops or not. Number 2, when you have 2 police officers, and you can't tackle the guy or pull out a taser, you're not fit to be a cop. Number 3, if you do research, you'll see that the police force are freemasonry. In other words, they're an evil gang. Not all of them, but more than 50%.
Fear. I can't imagine how it must feel to be a black person being pulled over by the cops in the current climate. It must be terrifying, the poor guy must have been fearing his life. Whilst I do think it wasn't the best way he could have handled it, shooting him in the back MULTIPLE times just wasn't needed. Cops need to be nice, pleasant and cooperative to the average person, how would you react if a gun was pulled on you outta nowhere...
when you're continously treated bad by a certain group of people, you won't wanna comply as much. that's just natural.
contrary to that, if you actually did something wrong, you are likely to wanna dodge punishment.
so you see there's different reasons. both reasons are caused by opposite group of people. one caused by the culprit, one caused by the police. so i think it's bad to just look at it from one side.

There is something to that. In many parts, urban kids are taught to never cooperate with the police. I viewed this video and saw an uncooperative individual ignore police orders and reach into his car. Police were correct in fearing he would be going for a weapon. It's sad that he may never walk again.

he's a piece of shit who deserved the bullets he got. Anyone who defends a pedophile should burn in hell with this cock sucker. 3rd degree rape of a child and people are still screaming that his life mattered and this is somehow an injustice. Fuck that.

it's mostly black people who do that because most have drugs and try to run. People who have nothing to hide usually just obey.
there's been disobedient people of all races, but realistically speaking, most black people run or talk back in defensive manner which only leads to force and maltreatment from the cops.

I feel That yes he should’ve listened and that the police tried to defend themselves since they don’t know the guy and what he was going to do. But then again i feel That one cop should have quickly went up to him and then the other one help out while one is putting cuffs on him for resisting simple :)

Everyones ignoring my answer but it’s true lol they had 2 cops he had time to try and cuff him
Fwi I love three miles from ground zero of this incident so I am getting the information a little faster than most. He had a knife on him and was waving it around then the cops tased him and he got back up and walked to the front of the suv. Cops had every right to assume he had another weapon. He had a history of violence towards cops.
Ohhh well if you’re telling the truth then i agree I’m on the cops side this time since it was self defense then. Also obviously people know Not all cops are bad I feel like some people just say that out of fear or bad experience with them the same thing goes with a certain race believing stereotypes for all people of a specific race
Also some police do racial profile though there’s been cases where white people have been in the same position like this guy (having a weapon and resisting) and they haven’t gotten shot.
Could be all sorts of reasons, depending on the circumstances and situation. But one thing's certain - no matter what the circumstances, no matter what the situation, no matter what the reason (as stupid as they might be), none of that should ever warrant being shot, let alome muredered. If you think otherwise, you're by defintion a hardcore fascist piece of shit. Plain and simple. And apparently you are.

you're an idiot. Criminal history was unknown by the officers at the time hence its irrelevant
why didn't the cops do a nonlethal takedown as they patiently walked behind him and waited for him to try and get in his car?
why don't the police descalate situations like instead of being soo willing to turn the situation deadly?
actually criminal history was not unknown. there was a warrant for his arrest which is why they were there arresting him. they knew he had a violent past
infuckingcorrect, the police were called about a "domestic incident" they had no idea who the fuck he even was. So again, his history is fucking irrelevant to this situation. One cop was even yelling for him to put down a knife that nobody else was able to see nor has anyone been able to find even though he was surrounded by multiple officers after he was shot. Its just straight up incompetence. Police are not supposed to be judge, jury, and executioner in situations like this
Just read some new updates published within the last few hours from multiple news sights and saw no mention of the police knowing about his history at the time nor of any weapon being found other than a knife
meanwhile a white teen with an assault rifle kills two people and seriously wounds a third and then proceeds to walk away as many police cars drive pass him unconcerned with his presence and assault rifle. Wonder if a black teen would have been able to do that
To be honest I don't really care about Jacob Blake, its much easier to focus on more cut and dry cases like George Floyd, Breona Tayler, etc
by the way did you know Amber Guyger the cop that didn't know where she lived and shot Jean Botham as he was in his underwear eating ice cream in his own home is already trying to appeal her murder sentence as she still doesn't believe she did anything wrong other than act in self defense
the teenager was not going for a gun and tried to turn himself over to police... so of course they didn't shoot him. jacob blake did indeed go for a weapon... not the same thing
This is kinda pointless and i dont even feel like arguing about it. I guess keep focusing on this singular most recent instance and just ignore the numerous previous instances before it and the ones sure to come in the future

One less nonce off the street, the world should be rejoicing.. Not going oh the police shot a black guy, who gives a fk what colour he is.. Tamper with kids, get what you deserve..
Shoulda shot his dick off instead
Both parties handled the situation wrong
But because the guy is black he is the victim
And because the cops wear the badge they are the villain
If the trend continues the cops won't get but a slap on the wrist
And I'm ok with that
no the cops had every right to shoot him. he disobeyed their orders and reached into his car. that is a threat of lethal action
No they used excessive force
Given the circumstances they went about it wrong
Fire 1 bullet you're good
Fire 7 you're an idiot
that's a stupid standard nobody but you uses. they can fire as many bullets as they need or want once the shooting starts
Ok and have everyone think of you as the bad guys of the story ahahahaha
Black man is still the victim of the story those jackasses don't know how to get anyone on their side
Do things right and most people would side with the cops
you know nothing about guns or engagement with enemies if you put a limit on how many bullets they can fire. as many as it takes till they think the situation is over is the correct answer
Sorry if the world doesn't see it that way lol
It doesn't matter what you say about how the cops handled it because the cops are the villains of the story and that is their own doing
Hah

the cops were excellent at their job. they did nothing wrong
They did everything wrong. Shut the hell up.
they did everything right. you just feel too many emotions and can't separate emotions out from logic.
he resisted arrest, he reached into his car. this was a hostile act and they had to shoot him for their own safety. it was the moral thing to do

go to a padded cell you conspiracy nut

ok let's look at the instances all together shall we?
statistical data disproves any claim that black people are killed at higher rates, infact once you adjust for violent crime rate among other things they are underrepresented in police use of lethal force scholar.harvard.edu/.../empirical-analysis-racial-differences-police-use-force
for those of you who say that the % of blacks stopped and killed is higher than their % of the population this is not a sign of discrimination. Black men commit 52% of all murders www.channel4.com/.../factcheck-black-americans-commit-crime it is inevitable that they need more policing as they do more crime.
infact studies show police hesitate longer to shoot black people www.researchgate.net/.../290437363_The_Reverse_Racism_Effect_Are_Cops_More_Hesitant_to_Shoot_Black_Than_White_Suspects
Polls show blacks and whites are equally favorable to their local police www.monmouth.edu/.../
this one latest instance is exactly like all the rest... fake
@007kingifrit
To be honest man after i saw you were just asserting things that nobody else has confirmed like the police knew Blake's history or he did have a gun (which even the Kenosha police didn't confirm in their own report) I kind of stopped really paying attention to your replies. So I'll just let you get the last word in and claim your perfect victory. Peace
hahahahahah you don't want to respond now that i posted all my scientific studies

I wouldn't want to be a cop in America with guns if he's a sex offender, woman abuser, child beater or has done sick stuff I would kill them too so don't let me have a gun I said what I'd do I'm honest so don't be pissed off when I do what's needed. Drugs/They believe they can get away with it. If a white man resisted like this the left would only applaud his getting shot.
