I've been watching a lot of body cam videos on YouTube, and people make it so hard to listen and comply with simple requests that they make it more complicated than Avril Lavigne. Why don't people just listen and admit they got caught?

You don't have to listen to any police request aside from providing ID unless you're detained, so why make it easier for your insurance to go up, catch a charge, or wind up with more than maybe contempt of court and walking out in the morning?
Long and short there is no benefit to "complying and admitting" especially when even if the police are clean, the people above them may not be. Our court system is not a charity, or about right or wrong, but guilty or not guilty.
Granted I wouldn't antagonize the police for no reason. It's pointless, and wouldn't have any positive outcome.

+1 ySame reason people do a lot of other things even when they know it won't turn out well. People do all kinds of stuff that's not in their best self interest. Resisting arrest, doing drugs, getting drunk, having unsafe sex, doing really risky things, driving way to fast, saying the wrong shit to the wrong people. The list is endless.
Humans are probably the most intelligent species on the planet. Yet they are also the stupidest. No other animal does the kind of stupid shit that humans do.

+1 yUnfortunately even when you do comply shit goes wrong. Also when you're in that situation it's scary and in my experience hard to hear what the officer is saying over the pounding heart in your chest.
I complied but still got my tooth knocked out on the pavement 🙂

+1 yToo many stupid people who don't see the error of their ways have tendencies to disobey orders, put up an ill-fated fight and will never see policemen & policewomen as people doing their duties to uphold the law and enforce order.

+1 yPeople can do that but. However what do you do when the time what the police are ordering you to do isn't quite leagle. Or you comply and even though you didn't do anything wrong but your compliance has made you guilty. Perhaps I watch too many YouTube videos on bad policing 🚔

+1 yI suppose it's due to the stench of foul body odor and fake leather that envelops their minds, making it difficult for them to discern the pungent scent of lawful authority. It's as if their olfactory receptors are overwhelmed by the rancid aroma of non-compliance, leaving them vulnerable to the toxic gas of disobedience.

+1 yBecause that worked out so very, VERY well for Rodney King, didn't it? Admittedly, that was a very extreme case, but it's important to remember that police are human, too, and subject to just as many foibles as the rest of us.
The ever-increasing militarization does NOT help.

+1 yI'm never going to just blindly follow someone because they have a uniform on. Oh you want to search my home? I'm sure you do, but you'll need a warrant to do it. Doesn't mean there aren't cops that will try.
I'm going to need you to step aside and look around.
I'm going to need you to come back with a warrant.

This is the funny thing if it's a police order you have to follow it a lot of the time the police order is backed up by a warrant this is how I know you don't have any clue what you're talking about and also they can enter your house without a warrant if they see someone they're chasing go into it or you run from them and go into your house you're going to get ripped out of that house kicking and screaming

@Cody2004 Yeah. So reading comprehension isn't your strong suit is it chief? I didn't say anything about fleeing felons running into your house.
"This is the funny thing if it's a police order you have to follow it a lot of the time" Yes. That is 100% true. "A lot of the time." That's not EVERY time though, is it. Police orders are frequently not backed up with warrants. "Pull over to the side of the road" is never going to come with a warrant. Don't be a muppet. - +1 y
@Cody2004 Right, and "I need to see some ID" isn't going to work if I'm not driving..

+1 yJust do what the police tell you to do and you won’t get body slammed, yelled at or arrested at gun point. I got pulled over once for speeding and I just cooperated with the officer and he gave me a warning, not a ticket.

Its OK to be strictly legalistic but not to taunt authority, avoid responsibility and get arrested. If police are in the wrong, tell it to the judge.

20 Reply11.4K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. It's kind of an intermittent but frequent reinforcement problem. Cops get reinforced by the fact that most people do what they say whether or not they're request is legal or not. Then when the occasional person decides to ignore their requests and demands because it really is illegal te cops go kind of crazy with them.
For too many cops get used to the lazy way of doing things and as a result of that can't handle it when somebody insists that they do things the legal way.10 Reply
+1 yEntitled generation. Think they know the law. If the cop is wrong, the side of the road is not the place to try and prove it. It never turns out better for the bad guy. That is like the thugs vandalizing stores. But I also blame the judicial system for not having harsher penalties for criminals
02 Reply- +1 y
You blame Democrats. AOC says it's okay to steal because the poor just want a loaf of wonder bread to feed their family. Problem is, these criminals aren't stealing bread, they are stealing everything but bread. How many videos have we seen where criminals don't even conceal themselves, just straight up go into any store, steal whatever they want and no one does anything about it. Many chains are closing down so many stores because of it. These stores also lock up so much shit to combat theft it's insane. Yet, in a neighborhood assholes are bitching about a pharmacy closing down. They say they need it because they don't have the wherewithal to walk or drive to a different location. Well? DON'T STEAL THEIR SHIT! It really is that fucking SIMPLE! Businesses don't exist to be a food shelf or whatever shelf for your needs!

Crazy shit is, an ass hat in Minneapolis/Brooklyn Park area Walmart decided to open fire against store shoppers and police. He got a slap on the wrist! The son of a bitch was released! Where he should have gotten life no parole or the death penalty. I guess it's okay to shoot at people and cops so long as you don't kill them? Anyways, the son of a bitch gets arrested again, but got out of his cuffs, climbed over the seat of the police patrol with out the cop present, drives it in a high speed chase somewhere, exits the freeway and parks, then proceeds to use the police rifle against civilians and other cops. That's the world we live in.
6K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Police tend to get scared or mad easy and take it out on whoever they can get away with taking it out on. It can sometimes be a matter of life and death to get away from a cop who is having a tantrum.
