Rittenhouse is in 'prima facie' violation of ATF federal firearms laws both for possession of a long arm by someone under 18 years of age (and used in deadly force). He can't claim he was 'hunting game' after dark or engaging in inner city target practice. NO ONE 'deputized' his behaviors. As a retired LEO had he swung that AR15 across MY path, I'd double-tapped him DEAD~ This pandemic quarantine has massively increased citizen's predisposition to gun violence.

Rittenhouse cannot claim 'stand your ground' AWAY from home, for a circumstance he, himself, freely elected to place himself, electing to be openly carrying a long arm.

But it is possible that he gets sued in civil court. Indeed, most criminal cases dont even bother trying ti start with and just go to civil court because it's substantially harder to get a criminal conviction without a plea deal. Even black men get more mercy from juries than some might imagine - still less than anyone else, of course, but more than I expected. This is why prosecutors always offer a plea deal.
