A federal judge in Wisconsin ruled Wednesday that a wrongful death lawsuit filed by the father of a man shot and killed by Kyle Rittenhouse during a protest in 2020 can proceed against Rittenhouse, police officers, and others.

+1 yI can't blame a father for fighting, if that's your only kid, that be a sad ending to life. But which kid... the one that was homeless, suicidal and attacked him? Or the one that attacked him and tried to kick his head? The 2nd one, one can argue that he was trying to neutralize a public threat... a hero? But from what I saw, I still fall on the side of Rittenhouse as self defense... and done flawlessly.
So I think the answer is yes, this should finalize the conclusion that he was just in protecting himself.

what was Rittenhouse supposed to do when being attacked? Fire warning shots? Take the beating and hope they don't turn the gun on him?

+1 yUnless he's tried on political neutral ground there can never be justice.
17 Reply- +1 y
Laws pretty clear. If someone attacks you especially if you've done everything to descalate the situation ie running away you have the right to defend yourself.
It was only when he was beaten to the ground that he shot after running away to avoid having to shoot. Be different if he shot someone in the back or just opened fire on a crowd. - +1 y
Ah I've missed the rittenhoose debates. He went there with intent to kill and any unbiased jury would have seen that. Yes he shot bad people but that doesn't make him a good person

@purplepoppy. You are from the UK, WTF would you know about justice?

Are we going to start prosecuting people for self defence? A dangerous precedent.
Fact is Rittenhouse was pursued through the streets by an armed mob. He did everything he could to get away and was forced to shoot.
As a victim of assault he should be entitled to compensation from the perpetrators of the assault even from the estate of the deceased.

Your memes just show your ignorance and senseless prejudice. You can replace "liberals" with "right-wingers" and the same would work, though you might want to replace "pedophile" with "a priest who raped altar boys".
The Rittenhouse case is tragic for all involved. The stupid shit never should have been there. - +1 y
@loveslongnails should never have been there? What kind of fascist world do you live in. In this country citizens have freedom of movement and the right to defend ourselves.
If Rittenhouse was an armed black man being pursued through the streets by a mob of neo nazis and was forced to defend himself after being beaten to the ground you would have no problem with that. - +1 y
Same fascist world you live in, bud, nor am I going to re-live this whole tragedy. My opinion is he took a gas can into a fire. He thought he'd be "protecting businesses"? Not his job, and I think it was a bad call to start out. I'm not commenting WHATSOEVER about the shooting, the trial or the verdict. My comment is simply - it was a bad call to be there at all, especially with an AR-15. I've no desire to debate this with you.
- +1 y
@loveslongnails without that AR15 he might be dead. The same people who want to defend the police and rely on citizens patrolling are the ones who attacked him for doing just that. I mean all these white antifa members burning down black owned businesses while the police watch on, somebody needs to do something
- +1 y
Entirely different issue - entirely. My point is - had he not BEEN there, staying alive would not be a question. In the end, did his presence there "accomplish" anything? Alright enough, like I said, I'm not going to debate this, so thanks for the feedback and have a good one.
- +1 y
@loveslongnails had he not been there? What kind of weird logic is that. Do we not live in America?
- +1 y
Dude... this isn't rocket science. My position is he had NO real reason to be there. You believe otherwise. End of effin story.
- +1 y
@loveslongnails his only reason was to play hero soldier. Like a small child.
- +1 y
@loveslongnails your right. It's also women's fault for getting raped for being places they shouldn't be and dressing slutty according to you.
- +1 y
Hmmm... I don't recall saying that anywhere. Hmm. Since you brought it up, let's look at it.
First off, it's NEVER a woman's "fault" that she gets raped. So try not to be an idiot here. However, putting yourself in a dangerous situation in the real world when you don't NEED to, IS definitely your fault.
So "female X", doesn't matter what she's wearing, goes out clubbing and has a few drinks. It's 2am, the club is on the outskirts of a sketchy neighborhood where crimes are known to occur, and she lives on the other side of said neighborhood. She makes the stupid decision to walk THROUGH that neighborhood alone. She gets raped. Is that her FAULT? No, the rapist is at fault. Did she have EVERYTHING to do with putting herself in that position? YES. She didn't HAVE to be there, she chose it. She could have taken a cab, Uber, Lyft.
Kyle didn't haven't to be there either. That's the point. Their choices are analogous. They both chose to put themselves in a dangerous situation they did not HAVE to be in.
12K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Anyone can sue anyone for any reason.
All the judge did was not rule out due process. Nobody can know the outcome until it happens except G0d.Justice already prevailed. Rittenhouse was acquitted.
50 ReplyI don't really understand the argument they are trying to make. The people attacked Rittenhouse, so he defended himself. If anything, the kid could have done a lot more damage.
I'm not sure how any of that situation constitutes a wrongful death.
00 Reply26.4K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. It was already ruled self defense. He is getting a good payday from lawsuits against CNN and the other fake news. The father and his lawyer are looking to cash in. I doubt this will get much traction.
16 Reply- +1 y
OMG... you need your own PERSONAL fact checker on here. You're ridiculous.
Rittenhouse never sued CNN. He never sued "The View". There was NEVER any payouts.
You're unbelievable. I suppose you get your information from USA Taters:
" There is no truth whatsoever to these claims. USA Taters is part of network of websites and social media accounts called America's Last Line of Defense, which, in a disclaimer, describes the content of its publications as "fiction," "pure fantasy," and "satirical":
Everything on this website is fiction. It is not a lie and it is not fake news because it is not real. If you believe that it is real, you should have your head examined. Any similarities between this site’s pure fantasy and actual people, places, and events are purely coincidental and all images should be considered altered and satirical. See above if you’re still having an issue with that satire thing. - +1 y
@loveslongnails He hasn't sued yet. He has attorneys that are working on the case. He will get a big payday from this, maybe enough to put CNN out of business for good.
- +1 y
If you're talking to me, you're not paying attention as usual. I NEVER addressed his actions, the trial or verdict in my comments. My ENTIRE point is - he didn't have to be there, and his choice resulted in a tragic event. Had he not been there, who knows what other events might have occurred.
- +1 y
@loveslongnails it is a free country the last time I checked and he had just as much rights to be there as the criminals that were burning the place down. They really should have pinned a medal on him
- +1 y
LOL You're whacked. LMAO
8.1K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Protest my ass. Three terrorists tried to kill him and the ones who remained alive admitted to attacking or threatening him in court.
The people the three were apart of robbed stores, burned buildings down and attacked or killed people who were minding their own business or were trying to put out the fires these terrorists started. Those three attackers deserved what they got.
