yes but I pay little attention to the show, I'm enjoying life and waiting for the nukes to go off. Wasn't he fired by Trump... why would he even care? Congress whom? The President just writes executive orders now... doesn't need that bunch. They call someone to testify, they don't show up. Congress whom?

if he doesn't have to show up, then no-one does. The law has to apply to all equally. Thus the punishment has to fit the crime,...10 years in prison and with no internet access. Anything less, they are just wasting my time.

It's all a witch hunt to stop Trump from running again. I suspect they fail as they consistently have. The country is divided in half, and the middle group is being squeezed by an anaconda... so doesn't look good for the donkey.

The Fifth Amendment protects individuals from being forced to incriminate themselves. Incriminating oneself is defined as exposing oneself (or another person) to "an accusation or charge of crime", or as involving oneself (or another person) "in a criminal prosecution or the danger thereof". The privilege against compelled self-incrimination is defined as "the constitutional right of a person to refuse to answer questions or otherwise give testimony against himself". To "plead the Fifth" is to refuse to answer any question because "the implications of the question, in the setting in which it is asked" lead a claimant to possess a "reasonable cause to apprehend danger from a direct answer", believing that "a responsive answer to the question or an explanation of why it cannot be answered might be dangerous because injurious disclosure could result.

He could have shown up, pleaded the 5th, and he would have been convicted of absolutely nothing relative to THAT. What he was convicted of was ignoring the subpoena which would not have occurred had he just shown up. They were not going to torture him to make him talk.

Must be a legal reason why he did that. I noticed non the committee members were willing to testify at his trial. These congressional hearings are usually witchunts anyway and mean little, just politicians grandstanding to get media attention.

Between one month and two years prison sentence. (1 month minimum, 1 year maximum for each of the two counts, presumably they can be served consecutively or concurrently.)

Meh, it's a show trial of political theater anyway. Personally if I were somehow called to that court even though I had nothing to do with it I would ignore it as well.
