Rule of law doesn't mean that everyone will always be happy. I'd even say it only works out in 70% or less of the cases, but still better than everyone doing whatever fuck they feel.

In almost every state I have heard of or lived in, you are only allowed to kill someone if you are actively and in immediate danger. So in most states, if someone breaks into your home, sees that you are standing there with a gun, and they turn and try to get away and you still shoot and kill them, you are the one who is more than likely going to get charged.

Did that rapist deserve to die? Absolutely. Any person who molests a 8-year-old deserves to die, yet if the father were to find out about it two days later and go kill the child molester you can be sure he's going to get charged with murder. It sucks, but we had a well respected boy here murdered because a girl told her family that he had molested her and her brother went and killed him. Turned out she lied. Those laws are in place specifically because stuff like that happens, and those are the rules all of us are subject to whether we know it or not.

It's okay. She will never pay the $150,000 because she doesn't have it. The victim's estate can garnishee a portion of her wages but that gets expensive if she never gets a job or earns more than minimum wage. Most likely the victim's estate will collect less than the interest so the debt will just keep growing. She has the option of getting married and never getting a job so in time the judgement is noncollectable and forgotten.
