Word has been for years that their marriage is in trouble because he’s not present enough as a husband and father, due to his very active career. And Gisele has been somewhat cryptic yet vocal about her feelings on that. I think she’s been trying to be private but if you read between the lines, I knew she was tired of him never being around.
However, he refuses to retire. Well, he technically did for a a short bit but decided “his place was on the field, not in the stands.” Ouch. What a slap in the face to his family. Very disrespectful.
I don’t blame her. His family needs him now, not when he’s too old to enjoy them.
Do you blame Gisele for wanting a divorce from Tom Brady?
Well, this is where it becomes subjective. I agree that both parents should be present to help raise children and make sure their social needs and relationships are solid and met to become better and confident individuals.
However, this comes back into play with gender roles too. Men have usually been the providers for their family, and Tom's life and passion is football. It is his purpose, his passion his joy. He may feel that if he loses that, he has nothing much to give his family or kids. Plus, if he was to give it up, whose to say it changes him for the worst or changes who he is as a man that made his family strong and proud to begin with? If a man has no purpose, he is lost and complacency comes with it which starts a spiral. Let's look at the flipside of this as well. Why not Gisele end her career? Same difference here with Tom. I am sure she loves her family a lot and her career too, but why can't she do that? Why does Tom have to make the sacrifice?
Tom even mentioned on a podcast this past week, I am going off memory, but it was along these lines. "My son has taken up football now and it is great. He is more coordinated than I was at his age. I feel like him doing this allows me to give him advice and be close to him and be there for him in a way I know I can. Not trying to give him crap advice about things I don't know anything about."
Now, I am not here to argue or say what should be done, but this seems like a double standard here for both Tom and Gisele. Both have a family and great careers, masters in their profession. This is a shitty thing to ask one to make the ultimate sacrifice by giving everything up to be there for the family.
Now, sure, Tom could easily go to do something like sports broadcasting or color commentary like Manning did to still have a level of involvement with his passion, but it isn't the Sam's as playing it. Sure, he is old and more prone to injury with that, but he is arguably a legend and nothing like him will probably be seen again like this.
No different than Dale Earnhardt dying doing what he loved by racing. Same with Neil Bonnett. Tried to leave, got miserable and came back. Died doing what he loved, but died happy.
This is really just coming to light and has been building for the past year, but we really don't know. There is two sides to every story, so I am taking Gisele's words with a grain of salt. Let this settle and then see what they say when it is said and done and we can side with whoever.
I liked Brady because he was a career underdog and people doubted him. The Brady 6 documentary was the thing that made me a fan of him and relatable as a person.
Plus, what do a lot of these sports wives have in common? There is a lot of divorce because of constant travel and not a lot of family time. They SHOULD know this, or already do and feel they can make the guy leave or do the opposite. Takes a special woman to stay with a guy like that and understand the commitment. Same with wives of soldiers. They know the life and they make the decision to go into it.
I am not taking Gisele's side with this, nor Tom's, but I feel this is a perfect example when it comes to power couples and type A people and marriage and commitment. No compromise on who gives up and submits because both are too stubborn to do so. Same with who becomes breadwinner and looks after the kids. This is a perfect example of this question we see pop up on GaG frequently.

I think its ridiculous of Gisele to expect Tom Brady to become her lapdog and retire considering she is not retiring either. Its a miracle that at age 45 he's even playing at all, I don't know anyone who's father retired before they were 60 and in this day and age most people won't retire before they are 70.
I personally think that Gisele is setting up the ground work for a divorce and we will hear all the same clichés we always hear such as "he was never present", " we had no communication" etc. She of course will play the victim and with half of a $250 million dollar fortune up for grabs plus alimony &child support this may get very nasty with accusations of domestic abuse & violence to be thrown in at a later date to destroy Brady's reputation. I believe Gisele has already planned all this out a year or two before. Brady was a big celebrity and athlete but he's on the way out, maybe Gisele feels she can do better with a high powered movie executive or actor. I'm thinking by 2023 Gisele will be dating Pete Davidson who will be tattooing the names of Tom Brady's kids on his arm.
Gisele has in fact stepped back from her career to focus on her family. Tom on the other hand, has not, in spite of the fact that most NFL stars retire before age 30, most leave the field at around 27. The oldest active player in history played until he was 48. This is a tough one. I feel like she knew what his life style was going to be like prior to marrying him. So she had to know that he would be less available then he should be. If he has been faithful to her and shown displays of affection and love to her. If he is a good father and he is a loving and supportive man. Then she should probably try to negotiate with him on spending time together and see if they can meet somewhere in between. However if he is cold and unloving. Cheating on her. Spends no time with his kids at all and basically pretends the family does not exist. It would just be best for her to end it. Sometimes marriage takes a lot of negotiation, sacrifice and getting through unpleasant times to be a long and successful one. People seem to get uncomfortable with circumstances and want to quickly blame the other and threaten divorce instead of choosing love. Love is not only a feeling but a choice. So you must make the effort to find ways to work around the difficulties. People have survived way worse situations in a marriage then these two and stayed married. Also have become stronger and wiser after it all. They end up having a true respect and love for each other after it’s all said and done. The kids see a consistent home life and don’t end up as hurt and this is what love feels like. Working to keep your family happy and whole. You must always negotiate and do whatever can be done unless someone’s safety or life is in danger. Divorce should be an absolute last resort. I think it’s kinda bullshit. He isn’t going to be able to play that much longer. That’s not a retire a 65 job. I’m surprised he's still healthy enough to play. But the clock is ticking so with the career he’s had I’d say let him play it out. But I don’t know I also don’t think divorce should be so common, and talked about like it will make shit better. Not a TB fan when he's off the field, however - Gisele knew what she was getting into as a "sports wife". If the trouble started years ago, as it seems to have, why divorce now if you actually still love each other? This would be his last year anyway, so I find it hard to believe she thinks this is a great solution. Now they'll live separately, and the kids will see even less of him than they would have beginning at the end of February, so how does THAT make sense?
I think she just wants out because she doesn't believe he'll retire after this season. Even if he does retire, he'll still do something that will keep him "too busy" for Giselle's tastes, I'm guessing.
I don't blame Bündchen for wanting a divorce, but not specifically because Brady changed his mind about retiring earlier this year, or because she has the desire to resume her modeling career. Bündchen has stated numerous times over the years that she doesn't want a "vegetable" for a husband and as the father of her kids. As long as Brady keeps playing football, he's continuing to roll the dice when it comes to getting a permanent, life-changing injury. Health-wise, Brady has been relatively lucky in his 22 year career, and now at 45 years old, his wife doesn't want him taking any more chances with his health. Especially his mental health. So I'm not surprised that they're getting divorced, because this has been brewing for at least the last 5 years.

Yes, this is what the man wants to with his life because it makes him happy. He was a football player when she met him and she should support her husband in any way. I would say the same thing if it was the other way around if she wanted to continue modeling and he should support her.

I don't know the details of their money nor their marriage. Regardless, if she wants a divorce, she will invent a reason. If he retired, he would be there too much so she invent another reason. I hope I'm never that way but a high percentage of older women near or during menopause are unhappy, blame their husband, and seek a divorce. Likely that is compounded by the fact that the market doesn't want old models. The market wants teens, not old hides so she misses the high she was getting from all the attention.
Intimate Relationships are complex. I know as a kid, you have a lot left to learn yet but you’ll have plenty of time to experience it. Regardless, I firmly believe Gisele did the right thing. And with her looks, she’ll move on faster than he will, because statistically, women do.

I would want my husband there for the kids during their formative years. And I’d want to enjoy spending time with my husband during our 30s and 40s while we’re still young, hot, in love, and have the energy to live life. Not at age 50. That’s why I vowed to never work away from home more than 40 hours a week. And I’d never date a man who worked over 40 hours a week either. That’s when, in my opinion, the quality of the relationship suffers. And I imagine Tom is away from the family more than the average Joe.

That's 6 months of off-season time he spends with them. And if he misses the playoffs that's extra time (but he never misses the playoffs). He hit an age of retirement and she probably thought and they probably had planned out his retirement already that he did not stick to. Once again, real athletes do not have off season, they train during their off season and keep in shape. An offseason is to limber up and get the engine but you dont automatically forget how to throw a football or catch a football. The skills you retain through years of being an athlete dont diminish. You dont watch a lot of sports i can tell. But every sport has a training camp of spring training for baseball. Athletes aren't going to forget how to play. And there are no rules to when he has to retire. He can play and still make time for his kids. The only one that has a problem is the wife. Shed be more supportive and understanding. But nope it has to be on her time and rules and a man like Brady looks at that and laughs. Again you're playing by his rules and she doesn't like it then oh well.
