Breaking: The January 6th Committee has referred Trump to DOJ for charges. What does this mean?

The committee has referred Trump and 4 others for criminal charges to the Dept of Justice.

They basically referred him to a Justice Department that is already investigating him. It was purely a symbolic move on the committees part. I don’t believe he’ll be indicted for Jan. 6th, even though none of that would have happened had he not instigated it. It’s a tough case to prove. I do think he’ll likely be indicted for the top secret documents, obstruction and possibly election tampering in Georgia.

@Roxxy99 Everyone seems to forget or didn't know that Trump told that old woman Pelosi to call in the national guard to protect the capitol. I remember seeing them there.

I think it means he has been transferred to an evaluation committee or a judging person to survey his level of guilt and possible punishment in the historical event.

It means nothing if he's not going to jail/prison for it. He's rich and because of that they will probably let him walk away with it.

Nothing. Even if charges are brought, he won't be convicted. Even if he is, he will never see the inside of a prison. The rich and powerful never do.

It means that the DOJ can and probably will levy formal criminal charges against Trump and he will be tried. Or they won't.
