Why are people boycotting Fox over Tucker's firing?

Because those people are the targeted audience for his lies and disinformation. They don’t want truth. They want him to lie to them. They prefer the alternate reality he creates, which plays to their biases, fears and bigotry. He creates a narrative where white people are disadvantaged (they aren’t), the election was stolen from them ( it wasn’t), it’s ok to hold hateful and bigoted views (it isn’t) and any false conspiracy is ok to promote if it targets the other side (it isn’t). Like Donald Trump, I don’t think he believes half of what he’s saying but he knows what the audience wants to hear and gives it to them for his own financial gain. The problem for Fox is that his lies are beginning to be very costly for the network. Not only will they owe Smartmatic at least as much as Dominion, but they will likely owe millions to Ray Epps before it’s over. Shareholders are also beginning to file suit against the network for violating its fiduciary duties by devaluing the company for inviting these defamation suits with false claims. Carlson became too much of a liability for Fox but he’ll continue his assault on reality until it no longer is profitable for him personally. I’m not holding my breath.

It's not a boycott. Fox has been blackballed. No one is protesting Fox's move in order to gain a political outcome. Viewers had already lost faith in Fox Media, but they tuned in for one show. Now they have no reason to tune in anymore and have canceled their memberships because there is no longer anything of interest on the channel for them.

A boycott is when you say we're not going to buy your product or service until we get this outcome. What is happening with Fox and Budweiser is nothing like that. People are taking a firm position that they will no longer use those services or products regardless of what the companies do from this point forward.

Tucker was a major voice for conservatives and Rupert Mordoch basically silenced him and changed the complexion of one of the biggest conservative platforms in America.
