I am happy to be born in the USA. I went down to the beach today until it started raining. I took some pix as a reminder of how awesome America can be. I hope I don't look at these pix in 20 years and see it all gone to hell.

I don't have any plans aside from making a delicious dinner.
For close to 15 years, my wife and I would drive 20 minutes up the mountain to park on the shoulder of the highway and set out lawn chairs in front of the fence to the fairgrounds to have front row seats for the 1/2 hour long fireworks display. We would bring wine and snacks.
But they didn't have the fireworks in 2020 or 2021 because of "covid". So we haven't been back.
We used to go to the annual County Fair and the huge annual Celtic Festival every year, but they stopped holding those because of "covid", too. We haven't been back to those either.
Plus, that town is having a "Pride Parade" today. So fuck that town.
I have fond memories of the city where I grew up and the 4th of July parade. The stars and strips; red, white and blue bunting; streets decorated; floats; the parade queen; drum majorettes and cheer leaders; high school marching bands; ROTC in dress uniforms with M-1 Garands; classic cars; happy families and kids.
When I think of the 4th of July, I think of John Philip Sousa music.

@exitseven. Very true.
American-themed dinner with the extended family, then fireworks... in a light rain. Can't get more American than that.
We will probably celebrate somehow. Where we just moved to, fireworks are illegal to set off. There are apparently shows around but since we are just getting used to the area we have no idea where they would be.
On the plus side ill be cooking up some hamburgers for the family so we get some sort of normalcy.
@Ez-Bri-Z_v2. Traditions are important. We always spent the 4tn at our summer house. We have not done this for 5 years. This year I had to work on Monday and my wife had to work on Tuesday. All my kids went up to our summer house and all we got was a bunch of pictures.
Iβm celebrating this good BBQ

America's birthday. Right, because prior to 4/7/1776 there was nothing and no one in the entire Western Hemisphere who may have been rather upset, to say the least, at being shoved aside for the settlers who arrived both before, and after, this date from Europe.
(sigh)
I'll applaud america and it's concept from afar.
Nice! I went to a parade with my family this morning and the fireworks are scheduled for tomorrow. 🇺🇸
Where are you from? It was also raining here on the 4th. It was actually pretty bad, there was a lot of flooding.
to answer the actual question, yes and no. Iβm not a patriotic person. I couldnt care less to actually celebrate this country.
but I enjoy barbecues and getting together with family so I do attend the celebrations lol
I am not celebrating. There's nothing to celebrate about a country that chronically commits genocide.
Going next door to celebrate the 4th with friends, and neighbors. I was going to a yoga class this morning at 9 -10:30, but they kicked my butt yesterday so I will wait until Wednesdays class.
Happy 4th to you GAG'er
Yes, of course. We saw some town fireworks last night. More to come tonight from another town. And then another town will do their fireworks tomorrow night. They take turns so more people care enjoy it.
I did. Took the guns out and saw the fireworks on the 4th. Partied like no tomorrow on the 1st.
Visited our daughter, had burgers on the grill, and saw a great fireworks show.
No. It was better when the British Crown held it.
There's nothing to celebrate.
@exitseven. Okay. Good luck with that.
I did celebrate it
I want to know the parents name first.
Spain and France. Then Britain came in to sabatage the marriage.
America is socially decaying.
Happy Birthday, America!!!
