What do you think about shipping avoiding the Red Sea due to Houthi attacks?

The Red Sea and Suez Canal is historically the way ships prefer to go from Asia to Europe and vice versa. Recently Houthi attacks on shipping has changed that, as many ships are now deciding to travel around the Cape of Good Hope rather than risk the Red Sea attacks.

This is starting to affect the global supply system, where shipping is responsible for a large percentage of long-distance shipping.

Western countries are now using their naval vessels to escort ships through the Red Sea, and some are contemplating attacks on Houthi positions on land.

What do you think?

Could be a problem around here, oil refinery is very important to the local economy and were a major port for the UK. Looking at my ship tracker most ships seem to be leaving us at the minute and there's not as many as I'd expect coming in.

i go a step further make a coalition like the one attacking iraq from saudi arabia and occupy the coast of yemen so cannot use it as ports for ships to bother shipping nor launch missiles from that land in yemen. same for somali.

I wonder how difficult it would be to just remove the entire Middle East from the map so ships could get through more easily. It would probably mess up the thermohaline currents, but that would be a small price to pay to get rid of a permanent war-zone.

They should equip a few merchant vessels with the military and have an aircraft carrier a short distance away for rapid air support, ie. Helicopter gunships and blow them out if the water. Call it Operation Feed the Sharks.

As I understand it, the Houthi are using cheap drones with grenades attached... the same things the Ukrainians are using to attack Russian troops, tanks and personnel carriers.

We have seen enough examples on how kindly and gracefully hamas released the ¡sraeli hostages and how the Palestinians were released: with broken bones and abuse. No news on Hamas bombing hospitals, as for ¡srael, they didn't even leave their own hospitals alone. This situation wouldn't escalate had the immigrants stayed as immigrants when they were welcomed after having kicked out of entire Europe.
