On the whole wars are never worth it to the tax payer. They lose outright, for example Income tax was introduced in the UK in 1798 to help cover costs for the Napoleonic wars. If a country cannot cover everything by internal taxation, it then has a national debt to pay off, at the end of WW2 UK National debt was £21 billion owed to the US and Canada. This was paid off in 2006. In 2015 the UK paid off its debts from WW1. At the same time it paid off the South Sea Bubble debt from 1720. Now, assuming that Britain did not take on this debt and introduce income tax, well Napoleon would have one that war, assuming that he did not, then the Germans would have won WW1, or they would have won WW2. For the Ukraine thing, a lot of this will be debt that Ukraine will pay off over a large number of years, the money does come back with interest applied. If Russia wins, they will very quickly move into Transnistria, that in turn will kick off further conflict with Moldova as happened in 1992 when Russia last tried to get access and control of Moldova. Countries can support the Ukraine or not, however when the Russians ‘resettle’ Ukrainians over Russia and repopulate the country, at what point do people say no to the land grab?
IF RUSSIA WILL EVER PUT EVEN A TOE NAIL IN TO >REP. MOLDOVA< (_|_ transnistria_|_) then the West + N. America will face threats like never before + Romania will be an unstable nation for NATO security due to the huge numbers of mercenaries and equipments that will be send in Rep. Moldova. (Some voice talk even of a Romania intervention for protection)
@Alexandrubaschet08 yep and a lot of people (Americans) do not even know where Transnistria is or the impact of what would happen. There is also a huge amount of fake news over it all, especially on what the Romanians are doing. If this does occur both Hungary and Serbia will become even more vocal with Serbia expected to try on Kosovo.
Kosovo is Serbia, don't know what u say. And i know there ar a lot of fake news. Is good that nobady know where is Transnistria, that is how it supose to remain. Nobady want them.
@Alexandrubaschet08 there was a minor war and it’s definitely not part of Serbia now.
Is still part of Serbia. NATO and USA just frize the conflict.
@Alexandrubaschet08 I would check with the UN on that one. Anyhow. It’s independent and will remain so. Anyone trying to make that not so gets into a world of pain I guess. KFOR have practiced reinforcing and various countries have spearhead units assigned.
No, i don't know this country Kosovo and who tell me is from Kosovo i answer him back "aaa so you are from Serbia actualy". Kosovo had never been independed, never had been Albania and it will Alwase remain Serbia.
@Alexandrubaschet08 oh they are plenty of people who are kosovans, also no one really wants to be associated with a country who carries out genocide. The only reason there are a large number of Serbs in Kosovo is due to forced expulsion of everyone else lol, sounds oh so typically Russian
The majority population in Kosovo was Serbian until after the Second World War. Iosif Tito brought Albanians to the respective region to pay them and to rebuild Yugoslavia because of this there were demographic consequences.
At the breakup of Yugoslavia in 1991, Kosovo did not have the status of a constitutional republic, like the other 6 that are independent countries today and that actually had the right to secede (it's a shame that they did it that way, it could have been more peaceful).
But Kosovo belonged to Serbia with the defeat of the Ottoman army in the region, the foundations of today's Serbian state were laid there.
Kosovo only belonged to peoples who were not even from the respective region, we are talking here about Romans, Byzantines, Bulgarians, Serbs. But Kosovo never belonged to Albania and it had no border on that land.
The declaration of a state as independent cannot be made only by the people themselves (because it is not legitimate and legal).
If a region rightfully belongs to a country and there is no native population to claim it, then the respective region remains the one that successfully incorporated it into its nation.
@Alexandrubaschet08 as I said by genocide
Friend, we are talking about the emergence of the national spirit of Serbia (THE MIDDLE AGES).
YOU CANNOT ACCUSE A NATION WITH TODAY'S LAWS FOR WHAT HAPPENED 500 YEARS AGO.
In this way, accuse Mongolia, Greece, Italy, Saudi Arabia, China and any other nation that existed and still exists today.
In most cases, the native population no longer exists at all (The case of the Bulgarians regarding the Thracians, the Bulgarians are not native, but there are no more Thracians at the same time, to whom does that land belong?)
@Alexandrubaschet08 no I am talking about Bosnian and Kosovo genocides, the recent ones as per hague convictions.
Is it a recent event or are we still talking about the breakup of Yugoslavia?
If you refer to the year 1991, any Balkan nation will commit genocide against another if the respective "victim" interfered with the country's internal problems. In the collapse of Yugoslavia, ethnic Albanian citizens began to mobilize with support from Albania to break away from Yugoslavia. Well, if you don't feel like eradicating them to the last soul from the face of the earth when they literally break your nation for which blood flowed for union and fraternity, then you Westerners cannot understand Balkan nationalism.
@Alexandrubaschet08 Bosnian war, Croatian war, Kosovo war. It’s pointless talking to someone that does not even know about fairly recent event.
Yeah Serbian committed genocide and then try hiding it by blaming everyone else but themselves. Typical scum of a country.
Because NATO and the USA threatened to intervene, even though it was not their war.
They all wanted to break away directly and suddenly from Yugoslavia and this had serious economic consequences for Yugoslavia/Serbia.
I know about the genocides of the Serbs, but when these nations Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia start and do the donkeys like denying the basic rights of Yugoslav/Serb citizens, naturally the situation worsens.
The Serbs tell me how during the break-up the Croats and Slovenes refused to register their Serbian nationality, preferring to put the Yugoslav one, this means that Slovenia and Croatia can do what they want with the pension, the house, the car of that man because the Yugoslav state no longer exists. This is war my friend. There were people who worked their whole lives only to find out they became homeless
@Alexandrubaschet08 so the Serbs just decided to massacre people, aka genocide simply because people refused to register as Serbians. That is along the lines of Hitler or Stalin, oh yeah those both did the same stuff. You did not register correctly so we kill your family, seems fairly fine like that.
Man, thous people whas force to say they are what they are not croats or iugoslavian, if they say serbian nobady accepted them. The institutions refuse to registrate them.
Of course i will kill that person who is taking my life work.
The slovenia and Croatia and all others in the normal way they could had separate anytime they want but they needed to start a proces (#Brexit). But they simply get out of the parlament and next day theh say, "we ard independent, Serb army get out". Thous action are like (you just take it or not) and Serbia simply didn't want to take it which is logical they will start to do what they had done
@Alexandrubaschet08 fair enough you endorse genocide, I don’t. Bye
So you don't undrrstand the behsviors of the Bslksns, don't get in to topic about Bslkans with bslksns
No, and I have said this before.. We need to pull back 100% of our military, and 100% of our foreign aid. Additionally we need to call all of our debts due from all countries that owe us money. And then finally close the borders. Let the world blow them selves to hell.

No, it's a war we started and is kept going to profit US defense contractors and other billion dollar corporations while inflect damage to Russian without fight Russia directly.
It was a number of different things that started the Ukraine war, pushing NATO east after we promised not too, 2014 cue to replace Ukraine's neutral government with a pro US/western government, blowing up the Nord Stream pipeline, sabotaging peace deals. Corporations, such as Dupont , Monsanto, Raytheon, Lockheed Martin, Black Rock in one way or another are all profiting off the Ukraine war (probably missed some corporations). Pushing NATO east served to benefit defense contractors, as members have to adhere to NATO weapons specifications. US/Multi national corporations are double dipping the Ukraine, they aren't just profiting selling Ukraine weapons, they will be profiting when it comes time to rebuild Ukraine. Mitch McConnel already stated when asked if we could afford to send more money to ukraine, "It's not actually going to Ukraine, it's going to American defense contractors". Some of the US/Multi national corporations aren't benefiting of the Ukraine war in terms of weapons sales, but are benefiting through the purchase of Ukrainian farm land. Part of the agreement with US sending Ukraine money that many people don't realize, including Ukrainians, is that Ukraine sells some of it's farm land to US/Multinational corporation's.
the opportunity to deal with this was long ago and I already argued all that. the choices were made.
the only question now is whom suffers.
put a new leader in to try to get a line drawn and start over.
It is worth it to end.
any war is always profitable to the biggest seller of war machinery, yes...
Not to the extent we are funding it, but I do think we should be providing some degree of aid. Europe has also been rising to the occasion which is nice to see.
The US should have kept our noses out of it or joined full bore. This whole proxy assist is useless and is a vast waste of resources
No, it's not our war and it's not our problem other than the fact that we probably caused it.
encourage industry to sell to ukraine would be good but not biden policy.
nope. in the end it will be a black hole. Only arms dealers and Hunter Biden will get rich. The rest of us get screwed.
It is in the sense that the alternative could very well lead to WWIII in the long run.
It is worth more to Europe and I am tired of carring the Europeans and then have them complain about how we do things.
Absolutely not.
Sick and tired of hearing about them
as if people have any choice
No but a peace deal definitely is
Yes.. someone has to stand up to Putin
