What do you think of Just Stop Oil protests?

Just Stop Oil (JSO) is a “nonviolent civil resistance group demanding the UK Government stop licensing all new oil, gas and coal projects.” according to its website. In recent days, it has painted Stonehenge orange, as well as private jets at a UK airfield. They were hoping to get Taylor Swift's private jet, which has been scrutinized for having record-high carbon emissions, but it wasn't there.

UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak called the group's actions “disgraceful"; Druids were particularly angry about defacing Stonehenge, which they view as a sacred site.

Personally, I am fine with peaceful protests, but not when it damages or defaces the property of others. IMHO, JSO protesters should face the punishment of having their own bodies painted orange.

I only got a glimpse at top line the answer of @EmmaMary. But I agree w/ her that they are lowlifes! If you block a road, then I should legally be able to fire ONE warning shot, if you do not move from the road, then I get to put my Big-Ass Jeep it in 4x4 low, and slowly roll my 4,835lbs Jeep just right over the stragglers (Who would all receive posthumous Darwin awards). If they superglue their hands to the road…. Their hands should be surgically amputated! (trust me, after the FIRST amputation, it would all NEVER EVER happen again!) and… If you destroy a piece of art, then the assets of your organization, and the assets of its members should be seized and sold auction to help defray the cost of restoring the art. As for the A$$HOLES who destroyed the art by pouring paint on it… They should get a minimum of 15 to 20 years in prison, being sold to whomever has the most cigarettes! My favorite of these just stop oil TYPE of activists, were the ones who were dumb enough to chain themselves to two trailers, not realizing they were on a Native American Reservation where US law does not apply! The chief of police literally crashed through the middle of the two trailers while the lowlifes were still chained to them!!! They wanted to stop people from going to Coachella. But they all ended up in the hospital! THAT was the greatest "instant karma” I've ever seen! If they did that in the UK, Germany, and everywhere else these Just Stop Oil morons do this, It would just stop! As for the “Just Stop Just Stop Oil” woman who proudly posed as she spray-painted the private jet! She should sit in prison until her family pays off the $70,000 - $180,000 that it costs to paint that private jet! As well as the rental costs of another Jet, While That one is out of service! Also, I don’t care if it’s water soluble… If any got into the Jet engine, they will need to be completely re-built to make sure NO contaminants are inside the engine! The cost to overhaul Jet Engines are $200,000 to $300,000 PER ENGINE!

It’s time we ALL learned something from the Native American Rangers, and did this to anyone blocking a public roadway! If they superglue their hands to the road… Amputate their hands, IF it’s still alive when it FINALLY get’s to the hospital, THEN re-attach it! Then sentence them to 15yrs! I guarantee you ALL of this bullsh! t would stop! I LOVE the cries from the a$$holes who blocked that road for hours, causing a 15 mile backup! “Please! We are environmental protesters!” The Native American Rangers were like DILLIGAF* "Well, we do not, and WE have big-ass trucks, that don't give a fvck about you, or your safety! The best part was the fact that a group of native Americans actually walked up to them and LITERALLY warned them “You clearly have NO idea where you are! Because this is Tribal land, so you really need to move your protest, a mile down the road, where you're back in the United States! Because if you're on Native Land when the Rangers get here, they are NOT going to give a fuck about your cause, or your safety! They're just gonna move you in the quickest way possible, arrest you, and you're going to be in prison in a place that is NOT the United States! If you are NOT Native American, you have NO rights here!

And I sincerely hope that justice for both criminal and unwarranted destruction of property comes crashing down on all of them severely hard indeed. Perhaps a minimum custodial sentence of ten years (with no reprieve for good behaviour) and being ordered to compensate for the damage caused, plus a lifelong wearing of an ankle tag, might just deter these morons of committing further offences... Truthfully I find protesters at least these days annoying usually it’s just a bunch of people who are unemployed and or with to much time on their hands prostrating for or against things/causes they have truthfully very little to no knowledge of.

Which if you wanna walk around on the side of the road with a sign be my guest. But don’t be mad when I get out of my truck and pull you off the road and tie you to a street lamp if your stopping traffic.

If these morons would completely stop using petroleum products maybe I would have a little more respect for them. If the walked or rode a bicycle everywhere and did not use electricity except for electricity they generated off the grid and Did not used fossil fuel to heat their homes. However they do not inconvenience themselves and they just want the rest of us to live like savages. As long as they stay out of my way I will do my best to ignore them.

They've done more damage to the green movement than any right wing climate change denier could ever dream of. All They've managed to do here is turn people off and anger them. They've brought London to a standstill umpteen times by sitting on the road or with slow marches. They know how to stay just on the right side of the law, enough to piss people off but not get arrested and if they do only on minor charges. Interestingly despite the fact we've oil refineries here in Pembrokeshire I've never see them here, probably because we'd spray them with slurry.

Use of oil will eventually die out but we need time to perfect new technologies, you can't just do it overnight.

I think that there's no way in Hell these aren't funded by oil companies as a false flag- though the protesters themselves may not know that.

More generally, I think that anyone who can't name at least five greenhouses gases has ANY business speaking as an authority on the Greenhouse Effect (hint: carbon dioxide is a VERY MINOR player in that field), and that excessive focus on that is stealing attention from other forms of pollution that are far, FAR more dangerous.

Just Stop Oil (JSO) are just stupid, the ones that sprayed the private aircraft will find themselves in serious trouble because their act falls under the Aviation Security Act 1982 in which their acts are classed as terrorism and the jail sentence is very steep and they'll be serving it in a high security facility, not the usual low/medium facilities where other members of their brain dead cult have been held.
