What do you think about Idaho's new decently laws?

We were just discussing this last week so this new law couldn't be more timely.

Governor Brad Little signed HB270 which, among other things, makes it illegal for a woman to expose her breasts in public for any reason.

What are your thoughts about this new legislation?

Pure idiocy. We are animals. As animals our newborn need food. While there are ways around it, there is little replacement for a mother.

However legal war on women is the main indirect indicatior of a country shifting towards becoming a dictatorship. Its like USA is following the playbook. Quite humorous really, if it wasn't so depressing. Rise up already?

Oh, certainly. But we still eat. Babies eat often and their food comes from mothers. Not to mention the bonding experience being believed to be vital.

To be frank with you, this law is simply a regression of human progress in order to weaponize gender-conflict and allow a more extremist government. Literal playbook.

As we all know, children can get food in many ways without exposing a woman's breasts in public.

I am not arguing against other options or even advicing women to strive to be discreet. However saying that people should not always eat meat and forbidding people from eating meat are very different things.

Taking away freedom to care for our own children is not a victory. It is something to be ashamed and outraged over. Land of the free? Pfft. Land of the increasingly oppressed.

Laws generally serve a purpose other than restricting people. For example yes, we have laws againdt murder to prevent people being murdered.

What is a law against breastfeeding meant to do? Protect innocent men from the horrible sight of a naked boob?

Even if all laws dictate behaviour that does not make all of them equal. It very much comes down to what behaviour is being controlled.

Actually, yes. The intent is to make sure modesty blankets or other options are used.

The law is not specific against women. That's only one area the bill covered.

Breastfeeding in public is still federally protected

Actually, it is not. It's just been publicly accepted except for legislation that prohibits it.

INDECENT EXPOSURE. (1) Every person is guilty of a misdemeanor if the person who willfully either:

10 (1) (a) Exposes his or her genitals,; exposes developed female breasts,
11 including the areola and nipple; exposes adult male breasts, including
12 the areola and nipple, that have been medically or hormonally altered to
13 appear like developing or developed female breasts; exposes artificial
14 breasts, including the areola and nipple, intended to resemble female
15 breasts; or displays toys or products intended to resemble male or female genitals in any public place, or in any place where there is present
17 another person or persons who are offended thereby...

I know some people may disagree with this law but it is now the law.

I'll be damned, you're right. I've always been under the impression that it was. I was curious and looked up the specific bill; it only cracks down on indecent exposure. Under HB448 breastfeeding is specifically exempt from indecent exposure laws. HB270 doesn't make any mention of undermining or undoing that. Might be worth getting clarification on it, but I'm willing to bet that breastfeeding in public is still protected in Idaho

This isn't the "U. S. government," it's state government. And, yes, both state and national governments create and enforce laws, which is one of the reasons for government. I hate to think of any society without laws.

I can see the other side of this where certain people may not want to see female breasts exposed in public.
