I don't know, but this is not a war... it's a conflict of intervention

you see.. in a war, there's usually a goal... and that's to defeat either side

the USA could defeat Iran any time they want, but that's not actually the goal... the one goal is to intervene and seize control of assets while making it look like "the Irani people decided to free themselves" and this is a whole lot more complicated and complex as well

and that's because of extremists... there's an entire network of extremists inside and outside of Iran... and Urban Warfare can be literal hell on earth, now the USA could also target that and eliminate them, but it is going to cost a whole, it is extremely expensive and costly for both lives and resources, but the USA does not want to do that either

the Trump administration made a mistake... they really thought they could just bully out the extremists with bombs and propaganda and just convince the Irani people to mess up themselves in the process, well...

people know better not to trust a liar when they already have one leading them

historically... there are no ends to ceasefire with extremists, and these deals are always temporary

the only end to extremists is a different dictator eliminating them... and as usual, Trump will chicken out of that

No. There is no point in a ceasefire until Israel is destroyed because Israel has some sort of blood liable against Iran for helping to support those who resist Israeli aggression. Israel will never stop trying to destroy Iran. A ceasefire will only allow Israel to continue attacking Palestinians and Lebanese, and rearm so that it can bomb Iran some more.
Israel has never and will never honor a ceasefire. It's time for Iran to end that den of vipers once and for all and assist the rebuilding of a democratic Palestine where Muslims, Christians and Jews (not Zionists) can once again live in harmony.

That one word "begged" killed the one thing any lasting peace deal needs, a respect for the honour of all involved.

I hope so and think so but it might take longer than we think. It also might take removing Trump from the equation, whether that be a removal in office via the 25th amendment (seems very unlikely), the entire administration is found to be guilty of treason (highly unlikely), or the most logical one being, they ask someone other than Trump to broker a deal that he has to sign off on and keep his stupid mouth shut afterwards. I'm not really sure if that's plausible either but just a guess.

If this actually IS a war, where is the battlefield? Why aren't we shown live footage on a daily basis of the fighting going on between the troops, like they did in Viet Nam and Korea? Why are there no masses of casualties stacking up?

They can compete because they control the strait of Hormuz which in turn controls a great deal of the world economy since about 20% of the world's petroleum product has to pass through there on ships. No, the United States cannot take over the strait because it is geographically too narrow than the Iranians have it too well fortified.
