I remember that.

He killed his mother and his wife, then brought a trunk full of guns and ammo up to the observation deck of the University of Texas clock tower and wound up killing 13 more people and wounding 31 before police breached his barricade and killed him.

For 90 minutes, he was under heavy gunfire not only from the 130 or so local, state, and federal law enforcement officers, as well as from an unknown number of local citizens.

I was only 12 years old at the time, but it was a major news story.
