Why is President Trump skipping the 9/11 New York ceremony to attend the Pentagon event instead?

He wants to be able to campaign for Republican Candidates. I think he should reconsider, show up in New York, attend the ceremony, show his respect and then go to the pentagon.

New Yorkers elected a democrat governor and NYC elected a socialist mayor. Then the AG trumped up charges and set a precedent by escalating what had been deemed misdemeanors for decades to felony charges, and they convicted him. Lastly, they ran all of the moderate and conservative business owners out of the city. So who, exactly, do you think wants Drumpf at the 9/11/01 memorial?
If he went, there would be another assassination attempt and every attempt gets them closer to beating the odds. He’s 100% doing the right thing.

He has a fragile ego if he can't make a speech in which he just says the same things all over again he won't go. I have no doubt somehow someway if was allowed a speech there he'd start talking about bird graveyards and windmills. I've seen enough of his speeches to know this

I think he wants to make it about the campaign and it is not allowed at the ceremony for anyone. Instead he will be at the pentagon at the site of the other attack and make his speech from there.

That’s only a 30 minute flight at most. I wonder if he’s skipping it because of the logistics involved with landing and taking off from major airports. If he took the helicopter, the secret service would still have to evacuate blocks of people.

It will be another communist event like the mayor’s last one with no food vendors, no toilets, and barricades to cage the citizens. President Trump probably doesn’t want his name on that miserable mess.

@TrueConfection I think he is boycotting it bacause he cannot make a speech. He should realize it is not ablut a speech and just show up, pay his respects and go to the pentagon afterwards.
maybe Secret Service is afraid he will get shot.

well considering he is planning a possible land invasion -on islands in the strait trump needs lots of time with pentagon to discuss various risks.
so being at pentagon now -
makes sense rather than pennsylvania like in 2018 +2020.
i say minimize risk. pull most of our troops out of region and sell equipment there to nato.

to @Iron_Man precisely. trump already came to new york for a rally- near JFK and la guardia airports- recently a few weeks ago to support Bruce Blakeman as governor. trump already came near nyc to campaign for Republican Candidate for governor. so that would explain this.
