Is a pattern change setting up a potential major Gulf hurricane soon?

This is in lala land still, but GFS is hinting at possible major hurricane in the Gulf sometime next week.

AI models are confirming something rotating in the Atlantic, but have it off the east coast of the USA instead of in the Gulf, so there's a lot of room for error here.

I wouldn't trust these runs yet, but just keep an eye on it until it's within 5 days of possible landfall, which it's like 12 to 15 days out right now. We know how the last several model runs went this year which were beyond 5 days, so don't worry about it right now.

Not that it really matters this far out, but simulated soundings estimate the storm could be up to 120kts, or 140mph on September 23.
