Businesses are selling diamonds, bling, flowers, chocolates, teddy bears, sexy lingerie, dinner for two or a sexy getaway for the one you love. Valentine's Day is one of the most expensive occasions of the year, almost Christmas all over again. People racking up their credit cards spending on ridiculous amounts of money just to bring a smile to their sweetie's face and hearts on their lovestruck eyes in one day. Is it really worth it spending all that?
Love has no price. Like JLo said, love doesn't cost a thing. Love is priceless. To me, I'd rather be with the one I love in our pjs watching a sappy movie in the comforts of our couch or pigging out on a dinner I made or Chinese takeout. To me, love is not about the size of the rock on my finger or the number of roses sitting on a vase in the middle of the room. These roses wilt but my love is stronger than that.
Call me old fashioned but I believe love cannot be bought. Love is the butterflies fluttering in my stomach whenever I hear the sound of his voice or just the mere mention of his name. Love is accepting his every flaw and not expect him to change the way he is. He might change for himself but for the better. Knowing I am making him a better man. Love is when he calls me to tell me how his day went and that he asks for my opinion and asks how I am. Love is not giving up on him just because he lost his job, or he's making less or he's a failure in life because he didn't live up to the standards of society. Love is unconditional.
Love cannot be measured in how long you've been together. Love is when you choose to stay because he is worth loving and fighting for. I am a hopeless romantic. I still believe in handwritten love letters that speak volumes than an expensive candlelit dinner in a posh restaurant. I can slow dance with him in the dark in our bedroom with my face pressed to his chest and feeling his heartbeat.
I don't need fancy gifts. All I need and want is you.
Your love alone is what makes my heart flutter and bring happiness to my life.
