So I'm having extreme friend problems right now and I don't know what to do. It really sucks when you feel like you can't trust anyone.

It's already awkward because everyone's mad at me. I don't really know why but one of my friends recently got really pissed but she's the one who hurt me. She didn't invite me to this party for one of my friends. We would ask our friends to support us by telling us who was right. I didn't mean to be bitchy about it (scuse my French) and was only trying to figure out who was lying. We worked this little problem out because she apologized and I apologized to everyone else. But then there was another problem.

I'm in marching band and this year will be my third year. I auditioned for section leader and drum major but so did my best friend. I don't care so much that I didn't get drum major but I'm utterly upset that I didn't get section leader. I went home and cried for two hours about it and every time I think about it, I cry. My resume and qualifications are outstanding and there's no reason why my best friend got chosen over me. But she did. So now I'm torn. My parents are yelling at me to quit band altogether but I don't want to because I love it. I also don't want to take orders from my best friend. What should I do? How can I know who to trust? Thanks so much!

Sorry this is long.

The first situation sounds petty.

The 2nd one.well sometimes you will not get things you deserve or think you deserve. You might not understand the reason behind it but there's nothing you can do about it. Unless you think there was some serious discrimination/plotting behind it, I would just let it go. Don't quit band just because you didn't get chosen leader. If you love band then stick it out. Besides, that would make you look petty and bratty and reinforce the idea that you didn't deserve to get it in the first place. If your BFF got it then congratulate her for it.
