I am kind of a mix. I definitely live in a "country" type state, but the area I live in is very built up and touristy.
Powhatan I grew up with was watching the wealthy out of towners mix with the folks that live out in the sticks. Always fun to watch a millionaire from Chicago mix with the boys that rode into town in the bed of a truck.

City folk tend to be into materialism, consumerism, fashion, name brands, and the latest trends. It is how they compete and gain recognition.
They tend to be self-centered and self-absorbed, demanding, and look down on those who are beneath them.
They ignore people who are of no value to them.
Status is important to them.
Country folk are more into rustic charm and coziness. They like dependable, traditional tools and appliances as opposed to fancy electronic things that break.
They love nature.
They know how to do things for themselves.
They are neighborly and even wave at or say hello to strangers.
They will help others without any desire for personal benefit.
Okay, not all city and country folk are like that.
I totally agree.
I believe that country people don't take themselves as seriously as city people would and they also seem more tolerant about a number of things than the stressed city people.
If something does not work right away, they take a break and let time do its magic. The secret is to not to let yourself be all worked up. City people on the other hand tend to get aggravated if it does not work according to plan.
I also notice that stressed city people are more likely to call the manager right away if something displeases them while country people would perhaps take the problem with a grain of salt.
This is very true. It is interesting to watch the ultra rich summer tourists study the rednecks and vice versa where I live.
I can just imagine them meeting a cow in real life. They would probably not even know what udders are 🤣
Haha it is very much like that. We get super rich tourists driving here from major midwest cities.
They have these mansions that put even the wealthiest zip codes in the US to shame.
Then along comes a family from a few miles outside our town with the kids in the bed of the truck for their yearly float in a cove on rafts from Walmart.
... and guess who is happiest?
Definitely the people from around here. Fun for them is cheap, and they are ingenious. A group of essentially hillbillies bought this worthless rock quarry on the lake
They then hauler in tons of sand to put on the flat exist roads and essentially made the nicest beach and swimming area on the lake.
Guess what else they did? They put a submerged rock wall just tall enough to let water in but keep the rich people's boats from anchoring close.
ingenious and hopefully that the message passes with those city slickers
Nosiness. I live in the city and I don't even know my neighbors' names, nobody cares about each other. But when I went to the countryside, people there had already heard about me the second I got off the bus.
Had not looked at it like that. Good point.
Country people definitely seem way more chill and not stressed out.
I think I will see this opinion quite a bit. Country folks tend to be way more relaxed if not to a fault sometimes.
I love your example. XD
It's so true too. I've watch Cletus and the fam roll up in a huge diesel pickup truck that costs more than their house at the luggage drop next to a wealthy family from St Louis and their Porsche SUV.
Any interactions are always fun to watch.
XD
I can picture it now, lmao.
Do you get any of that where you live?
Yes, but it is way more mild than what you probably see, I would think. The lifestyle and wealth gap will be much smaller and less noticeable.
That is true. It swings wildly from one extreme to the other.
Is it really like the TV show? X
I don’t mean everything. From the short time I was there, sure seemed like it. Why I’m so fascinated with that place.
Haha very close. Obviously that i fictional, but the way of life and the mix of people you get are very closely mirrored in the show.
Kind of spookily similar.
I’m so envious. XD
Country people are usually more relaxed and friendly, compared to city people.
Small town people are optimal, they are right in the middle.
This is exactly what I notice. We have a tourist rush and then you see the country people take over the off season.
It is a wild transition for us locals that are a bit of both in a built up tourist area in the country that attracts lots of ultra wealthy.
What do tourists usually come to see in your county?
We have a premiere but man made lake in the midwest. There isn't much for the big city people from St Louis. Kansas City, Chicago and so forth to go.
I see, are there any Native American reservations there?
I do not believe there are official reservations in the state. I could be wrong. Our state is backwards to be honest.
It’s a day and night difference one group are from a classy city but some are stuck up. the other lives in a country town that are very much like Hicks
I see the same here.
Yeah, that’s pretty much true
I live in Miami Florida some are a little bit set in their own world and kind of stuck up and then when I’ve gone on vacation to see the Smoky Mountains. There’s a lot of backwards country people there which they call Hicks. But some country people are nice and some don’t like the city people. Some city people are polite and nice and will help you out. It all depends on who you run into.
I get it. I'm in the midwest. We have a massive tourist destination from the rich of KC, St Louis, Chicago and so on. Then we have the country bumpkins that are local. I'm like the in between typ. Grew up here but in the bullt up touristy part.
That’s funny they are funny the country people. I’ve gone too Chicago before for a vacation I like it.
Chicago is pretty cool. Been there one tome. It is kind of far as a drive for our family. Cool city!
I really like it and it’s very nice and clean much cleaner than New York City
Have not been to NYC yet. I trust your judgment.
Yes, many years ago they had some nice areas, but some areas were kind of slummy, and there was even a prostitute hanging around in a nice area one time trying to solicit, and they paint the subways and everything
The graffiti the trains
I would say, being able to produce and consume "moonshine".
https://www.youtube.com/embed/VFDN2EOGyDI@Masie City selfish and independent.
Country: friendly community people who's everyone in town
@Masie so far @EmmaMary
or @purplepoppy can explain much better
Country people are usually less stressed out.
City people value money over people more than country people
There’s a lot. I think everybody already listed most of the city people’s negative traits. I prefer country people in general. They aren’t so apathetic and indifferent compared to many people here in California.
we county folks like are freedom
Sure do. It what makes where I live so interesting. We get the out of town yuppies mixing with the backwood folks during the summer season.
they just race down the road by me
Where they live.
