All right guys and girls. How do we really feel about platinum blondes?

Question

I know some chicks can rock it and not look like wannabes (scarlett johansson for example) but I feel like I see THOUSANDS of ugly girls a day trying to hide the fact that they are not cute by bleaching their hair blonde and blending in with the typically hot, paris hilton type.

i'm not saying ugly girls shouldn't be allowed to bleach their hair, but when they're doing it in an attempt to be just like every other truly hot girl, isn't it just a bit ridiculous?

there are plenty of not so hot guys who make themselves hot through their personality alone. I suggest you followers start developing your own identity!

i didn't do the BEST job describing this scenario, but there have got to be other people out there who understand my pet peeve!

mostly guys, what do you think? does this tactic work? can you help but look at all the bleached blonde "babes" or is it a turn off to be tricked into looking at the next desperate wannabe?

Wow people on here.
One person said that girls with platinum blonde hair are sluts and another said they are never smart, upon many other things.
I have platinum blonde hair with buzzed sides, usually wear dark clothes, and have a few piercings. I definitely get a lot of glares or "oh god not one of them" stares (but I'm used to it and learned to ignore the judgmental bastards).
I actually have a 4.0 GPA and I take advanced classes. I'm also in math team and go to math nationals every year. But I'm also in anime club and play drums in a little rock band with some friends. Bet you would've never guessed it but I also play violin. I love skateboarding and going to crazy concerts. But I am also in cross country/track and see plays/symphonies all the time.
Just because you look like something doesn't mean you are. But I guess that's just society's labels though.
For the slut part.
I'm 17 and have never had sex before and don't plan on having sex anytime soon. Aaaaand I have only had one boyfriend who I have been with for 5 years and have never cheated on him and never would.
I get this place is for opinions no matter how stupid or how much of a smartass the person is.
But stop being assholes and stop judging people.
And I'm not here to brag or some shit, that's why I made my comment anonymous.
So yeah, I like people with platinum blonde hair. It's just a hair color, it doesn't tell you who someone is or whether you should be friends with them or not.

I used to kinda be like this: sometimes when I was in my teens I thinking that I was plain-looking [maybe I was back then?] and, therefore, I got my hair mostly blonde.  Sometimes it looked alright but many times it didn't [and I didn't really realize it] both because of my skin tone and dark roots.  I thought that if only I were a natural blonde then I would be so much more attractive but now I realize that dark hair actually looks a lot better on me because of my pale skin color.  I say that girls should only have really blonde hair if they already have naturally blonde hair; some subtle highlights can be alright on brunettes though but otherwise it usually looks fake and not-good.

Personally I was born blonde, have blonde eyebrows and eyelashes (which is a real pain in the arse when it comes to using eye makeup as I get blonde roots! Plus I look like a chemo patient if I don't dye my eybrows as they are so fair) plus really fair skin. I wouldn't dream of being any other colour though!

However being blonde I gotta say I hate the lightbulb hair/orange skin look. Personally I can't see the attraction in looking like a leather handbag. Brown wrinkled skin, and easy to pick up..no ta.

Nothing wrong with bleaching your hair if it looks good on you.. I love my blonde highlights, which are anything but natural. :-) I don't think changing your appearance makes you a fake: it's a way of expressing yourself, and it's what makes people unique and interesting.

But actual "platinum" blonde, where it's almost white, looks really 80s and tacky unless it's natural (which only occurs in children).

i think when dyed that color its awful but you can tell because a girls completion will not match the hair where as a naturally fair skinned girl has a very light hair that color she will look good,

but the dyed platinum color is not close to a natural light blond hair color.

like a orange tanned girl with no meat on her and dyed super super platinum virtually florescent platinum blonde looks horrible (sorry if that was over the top but you understand me)

nothing beats natural beauty and natural beauty is what will always shine through because lets face it doesn't matter what you do to your body , there will always have to be some natural beauty to start with or it won't look good, a girl always looks better in the body and skin she was born in ,i think hair color is something that can change for the better , but any body modification is not good,

a healthy girl always is more beautiful than a starved girl, sorry if that was out the qestion lol

Some girls can look great with platinum hair.

But the hairstyle, cut and color have got to be flattering. Simply coloring your hair in a trendy way doesn't automatically make you hot, sexy, stylish, whatever. Makes you more of a sheep following the herd; next year it'll be a different hot hairstyle.

VERY few women can pull off this look. You must be naturally pale (I'm sorry, but unless you have blue or green eyes, it'll NEVER work for you). Also, women who cannot afford the upkeep (i.e. touching up the roots 4-5 weeks) should find a lower-maintenance color. Also, the lighter your hair, the more color you'll need on your face... it's so easy to look washed out when your hair is that light.

I also read one time in a magazine, that the lighter Blonde your hair, the shorter it should be. Great example- Reese Witherspoon and her various cuts/ shades of blonde. Example of what NOT to do- Paris Hilton with her extensions. Get the picture?

well if you think dying your hair platinum makes you a follower, you have to apply it to every color. changing your hair from its natural color to something else, by your logic, would make you a follower then, I guess.

i think hair color looking good on someone is more about their skin tone that whether they are ugly or not, though

and as for whether boys like it, well I'm a light dirty blonde but I get very light highlights, and I'm very blonde, and my boyfriend really likes it, but then again, he likes blondes in general

I don't think it works.  It's okay if the girl would already be pretty without it, but I understand.  If she is a complete dog then maybe banking on the hot blonde stereotype is her only hope of getting attention.  I can't fault them for that, every girl wants to feel desired, I just think it's a trashy way of going about it.  Everybody doesn't look good blonde.

My boyfriend and I agree that platinum blond hair is trashy.  I tend to associate platinum blonde hair with fake tan and excessive amounts of eyeliner, like many others, and to me that is not attractive. Girls should stick close to their natural hair color, in my opinion. There is always the rare outlier that looks good with bleach blonde hair but for the most part it does not work.

I think it conveys a trashy look.  At least with girls around my age.  I work with a girl who is really smart and good at what she does, but gets no respect at all.  I think it's because of her platinum blond hair.  It's a male dominated field and I think the guys see that and just assume she's dumb.

I don't see why someone would want to change their hair color, unless it is really ugly but their are ways to make any hair look good. Plus dyeing your  hair damages it ands I like to take care of my body. The only people who I would somewhat understand dying their hair is the elderly. I feel the same way about red hair, brown hair, black hair.  Sometimes a change is fun. Girls are alwayssss copying fashions of other people, magazines, celebrities, etc. I don't think this is any different. I feel like when someone has low self esteem they tend to go and try to become what is perceived as "hot."  Which is usually blonde.  And I think when people go and try to become what everyone else already is they aren't as unique and they don't stand out as much.  And maybe that's what they want if they have low self esteem.  But yea it really annoys me when people do that. You can always tell a fake blonde/wannabe.

Unless you have really pale skin and light blue /gray eyes, you should forget platinum blonde... and, perfectly straightened platinum blonde hair looks boring, while a type 2b or 2c curl can make it look astonishing

the whole "guys prefer blondes" thing is actually a myth. I've dyed my hair (because of premature greyness), so I'd be a hypocrite to look down on a girl for doing it.
