Tofu is pretty much tasteless but when cooked with something else, picks up the flavour of other food items and sauces. It's made from soy milk curd which is made from soya beans and water.
It's often used as a meat substitute in meat based dishes as a Vegetarian option.
I had it once, but it was dehydrated and it had to be cooked in a soup thingy... It tasted like nothing. It was mushy and gelatinous. I would not eat it again.
Imagine eating a food that has little to no taste at all. That's tofu.
There's absolutely no character in tofu so if you really want to enjoy it, you might want to have something on the side or at least refrain from making it the star of your dish.
Tofu is soy-based... By itself it's pretty much tasteless, but if you cook it using good sauces and spices it can taste really good.
Overall, I enjoy it...

It really taste like anything, it takes the flavor of whatever you are cooking it with/in.
It's quite plain, I don't think it's sweet (can't quite remember), maybe a tad sour if anything and the texture is like smooth crumbly jelly.
