My waistline has slimmed down a lot and my muscles nearly everywhere have enlarged. Unfortunately, my weight has increased. I’m puzzled. 🤔
Muscles weigh more than fat. Almost 250lbs 5'9" guy here.
The scale should be going up as you slim down or else you're losing muscle as well.

Muscle is heavier than fat of the same size. So you can be slimmer, but heavier.
Also, some muscles gain more size than others. Your abdominal muscles do not increase in size much. So your waistline can get much smaller by losing fat, but muscle gain in the abs will not increase in size.
Muscles have a higher density than fat, so depending on the balance increase muscle/reduce fat, you may become heavier
Within reason, yes, if you’re billing up with muscle you may gain a few pounds.

Yes it is true. I sometimes have a hard time explaining it to people who wish to lose weight but lets assume you have a ton of feathers and a ton of bricks.. what weighs more?
They weigh the same because they weigh a ton.. BUT, now look at the density!Muscle weighs more than fat , so your scale is going to go up , because you are building more muscle , plus muscle also stores a lot of water as well , so you are best to not step on the scale as much anymore , and measure yourself instead , Weight scales can easily mess with your head and make you feel like WTF , because you worked out all this time to gain weight instead of losing it? So do yourself a favor and don’t focus on that scale.
Yes. That's why I almost never weigh myself. I look more at goals achieved, healthy eating, and doing better than my best PR. It's about feeling good and looking good, not a number on a scale.
Yes. I weigh more than how I “look”. Sometimes it makes me feel uncomfortable looking at the scale but when my clothes fit better on me, I know I am on the right track.
If you build muscle, you will gain weight from it. But it's not bad.
Muscle weights more then fat, so yeah you can get in great shape and end up getting heavier
Haha that’s just your muscle weight but great job on your progress~
It's not what you weigh, it's what you look like. Don't even weigh yourself.
Why tf do you care about the number on the scale when you can clearly see that you’re losing fat and gaining muscle?
It happens, keep an eye on your body fat % & you're fine...
Nevermind what you weigh, just keep working off the fat
