I was going to do the same thing with my ex. I used to be an elite athlete, then quit, completely stopped training at all. Was going to get back in shape and send her snapchats of what she was missing to make her jealous and miss me, and get back with me. Warped logic, but that is what he is most likely thinking.
So, if you still like him, try talking to him, if not, just ignore him.
