Nothing more than a slap in the face as a reminder to you, you boyfriend was with someone with that name. I don't blame you for conflicting feelings. I will not really want my girlfriend to have anything tied to her past - pictures/tattoos etc <-- hell I will not really go for someone with a tattoo - not my thing. I'm not sure what kind of judgement your boyfriend exercised when he thought about getting inked up. I am not your boyfriend and I do not know his thoughts. If you ask him why he won't get the shit removed and if he gets bitter/defensive about it, then you gotta get the hell out of there. If he calmly gives you a reason (ie removal is painful or whatever) - you are going to have to bargain with him to get it off

Well there is no way to know for sure without asking even then you have to believe what he says is true the tattoo doesn't have to mean he still loves her there could be a lot of difficult to understand/talk about reasons he still has it or it could just be it hurt like hell getting it and it will hurt a lot more covering it iv also herd tattoo artist's don't like doing anything with other people's work so maybe he just doesn't see it as a big deal and he was told by one they wouldn't do it and gave up

They might be, they might not be. My ex-wife and I got tattoos when we got married, but not of each other's names, I said I wouldn't and told her not to. It seemed stupid as all hell.

Tattoos are expensive, coverup is expensive and you still know what's there, removal much more so and it still leaves a faded image behind.

Anywho, on that, how do you know anyone isn't still in love with their ex, tattoo or not? Or that they're in love with anyone, including you? Just thinking with me, my priority is on if someone loves and cares about me, not worrying so much about if there are other people they care about, or did care about.

No, I highly doubt it. I'm sure he wishes he didn't get it in the first place, or if it was _easy_ to remove (they are not easy to remove, and expensive).
A cover-up is a different story; he may simply not want another tattoo, or an image he wants to look at the rest of his life.

Removing a tattoo or covering one up is very expensive. But i wouldn't date someone with their ex's name tattooed on their body if they weren't in the process of removing it.

Not necessarily. Depending on the size of the tattoo it could be expensive to cover over and I understand that the removal process is really painful (though I don't know that for sure).
