The breakup happened apparently because he is moving to a different country and the girlfriend is not willing to come with him and because of his background, his parents are very strict and will not accept a girl who doesn’t have a certain career. He is very loyal to his parents and does everything they say because they basically threaten to disown him if things aren’t done their way. If he really loved the girl wouldn’t he be with her anyway? Or could he be feeling stuck because of this?

chances are that he messed up really bad...

he did wrong to her, and she just doesn't want him back and that is why he can't be in a relationship with her but he still thinks "he loves her"

another possibility is that, SHE was the one who really messed him up and bad... so he still has some lingering feelings about the good part of her before she did him so wrong

but he still knows that he can't really go back to a relationship with her, because that would be even worse

no... many times, love is not enough

sometimes we just idealize and romanticize the idea of love, and that love can beat it all, and overcome every and all difficulties, but not, that's not life

life is real and not an idealization of romance... some problems, difficulties and obstacles are going to be way too much of a challenge and also a detriment

sometimes, a sacrifice requires for you to give up on too much or too many things, or make you face very difficult ordeals... and then that love, as much as you think you are in love will just not be enough or it will not be able to withstand the bad and the not so good things

if the lives and circumstances of both people are just not aligned and they are not compatible... love will not replace no solve, it will not survive that for long

Totally agree. And I hate when people say “oh if he really loved you he would make it work” because unless you are in that situation, you don’t know how it feels to be stuck in the middle, and obviously if someone is that attached to their family, they’re going to choose their family.
