Trust is a big thing for me. If a guy breaks the same exact promise three times, then to me, he doesn't mean his apology. Why promise anything? Why not be straight and admit that you're not sure you can keep a promise like that? That I could respect and be willing to work through.

I don't like dishonesty. And that's what it feels like when someone promises you something but breaks it over and over again. You feel stupid for believing them. And an apology at that point just feels insincere, as if he's trying to only smooth things over.

I agree. I told him its mainly his fault, i think he kept promising because he was afraid of losing her. Funny he did lose her. i think my question is too general without details but the problem is he can't express his feelings. So she feel as if he is careless and not serious. He promised to change which usually he did after every time he apologize but then back to be cold. I know him well we are best friends for more than 10 years he is good guy but its just this problem.

I told him the best thing is to learn from what happened. And avoid the same mistake in his future relationship and that relationships are about caring ... Etc. Which i hope he will because losing her was painful.

Accepting someone's apology and giving them another chance aren't the same thing. You cab forgive someone. That doesn't automatically come with a second chance. It depends on if they really are sorry. And really learned from their mistakes and are really willing to work on not doing the same things that caused the hurt, issues in the first place...

I think game players refuse appologys... if someone is humbling self to appologise they deserve a chance. (Certain extent of course.) On the other hand if she doesn't want to forgive. The guy needs to back off and respect her choices and space
