Does moving or traveling help you move on from an ex? Is it easy to forget about someone who has your heart if you just travel/move?

I’m in love with this guy, completely in love and I don’t know how to move on. But I need to no matter the amount of love I have for him; it’s just creating pain.

If I move somewhere or travel for about half a year (that’s all I can afford and do want to return home) would that help me move on? And I mean to another country or the other end of my country. A substantial move.

Well you have to understand yourself think about this for a minute no matter what we do in life no matter what happens to us no matter what somebody says nobody can get inside of our body nobody can make us feel something we don't want to feel it's our choice to either feel it or not somebody hit you in the arm on the outside of your body well of course you're going to feel that. But if something happens to us and we feel the pain with our heart or mind . We either allow it to hurt us or not most of the time if it's the truth it will hurt us but if it's not the truth we don't even let it in. So if somebody breaks your heart and you think about it each and every day then you are the one that allowing yourself to feel that pain because you keep bringing it back up bring it back up the moment you want that pain gone it will be gone so let's pretend for a second you and I start chatting everyday for a couple weeks I can make that pain go away it's actually you doing it because now you found something to take its place a different thought and not always thinking about it all the time yeah this is not the right answer for you but it was for me the moment I broke up and within the first week I did not like what I was feeling like I said this is the wrong answer but I went out I picked up on the girl and I got laid and I made it the best sex that I've ever done I think because I wanted to forget I wanted to release all the pain that I was feeling find something fun start chatting with somebody send me a message find something to do to occupy your time so you're not thinking about that person is more you're afraid if you stop thinking about that person that you will lose that love that you have for that person you will always love that person accept it right now you're not together you got to accept it right now now you need to change it you need something to take its place like I said chat with me for a week I guarantee you will feel something so different but it will take your mind away from always thinking about that you can only give yourself pain and happiness fulling you because it's within your heart that is the truth. When you want that pain 100% gone it will be gone because it's you that is controlling it

I don’t think it will help. I’ve been getting over my ex girlfriend for a long time. It’s sad to see familiar places but if you move away you will still think of them and imagine your life there together. I think it would be a waste of money and better to focus on yourself and perhaps building some wealth will benefit you. I also know that I could do much better and don’t deserve this. And I’ve heard of many times where the person comes back especially when the person they left finds someone new. If I had someone more fitting for me the attachment would grow there and help me forget. But in the meantime I’ve improved quite a bit in many ways and there is huge void in my life. It sets girls off even more I think. But the right one will come along or if it’s meant to be it will be. Moving away could be another way to get them to think of or wonder about what you’re up to, and that’s manipulating and jealousy. I don’t think she will come back just if I find someone way better for me, but it sure would help fill that void in my life. Oh well. Goodluck and enjoy the growth.

No I've been there. Moved 1200 miles away for a year and a half then got into trouble and went to prison for a year and a half where there is no internet and I had zero contact with anyone who had contact with her and I still thought/think about her every single day. I try to keep my mind busy but anytime I have something I want to tell someone or think of doing anything that I should enjoy I can't do it without thinking of her. For real I am getting to the point where I think I have issues because I've done all of the things that are supposed to work.

Trying to relocate while dealing with this tormenting agony will only cause you to resent yourself in the long run. I have moved quite often. I think it helps. The more people you meet, the higher probability of connecting. Any crushes I had in my first high school in one state pretty much evaporated after moving out of state to a new high school. Those crushes evaporated when I went to college, and then then next college in another state, then the next state for a different job, etc.

I see a few folks from high school and college, but not very often. It is usually during holidays when I have off from work, and even then it is just family I see. I have Facebook friends from all over, but unfortunately, I do not talk to many very often. I should reach out more, but I'm kind of an introvert.

Staying around where he is, seeing all the places that you went together, places that remind you of him, will only make you miserable. A major change of scene, and meeting new people, should help your heart heal. Take all the time you need to mourn and grieve and slowly recover. It's a process that can't be rushed. If you can do this, I think you should.

Yes and no. It does help in the sense that you are not near any reminders of the ex everyday. However, for moving to work, you must first fortify your mind and heart so that you can leave those feelings behind.
