Why is my ex boyfriend so hot and cold?!

my ex! I want him back. we are 'on a break', but we aren't supposed to lose contact.

sometimes he wants to spend a lot of time with me, sometimes he tells me he needs more space and doesn't contact me for a week, sometimes he is really warm to me, and other times he's super cold. sometimes he'll tell me he is going to call me, and he doesn't. sometimes he will.

what is going on in his head? I mean, he seems confused. should I just back off/ avoid him completely? he's kind of messing with me.

It sounds to me (especially since you said you were "on a break") like he is really just wanting to keep you hanging around as a backup. That would explain the whole hot/cold deal. He doesn't want you to lose hope that you'll work out because if he decides he wants a girlfriend again you'll still be there. I would try your best to move on if possible.

If he's bothering you that much, yes you should avoid him completely. Tell him when he stops being confused then contact you. Otherwise, you don't have time for his bull sh*t.
