Two different questions you pose - -
Can you mend a broken heart?
What do you do to recover (from your loss)?
in my opinion, you never "mend" a broken heart. The "heart" isn't the problem: it's the thoughts behind the broken-ness that need to be addressed.
Personally, after a good cry, I try to help someone else and fill their voids concerning their loss (es). Yes, it's "just a distraction" from my own loss, but it works.

Hummm... It has been quite awhile since that last happened to me. I remember it took a few weeks to recover. I think I sat around the house trying to rationalize the situation. I found out later that she reconciled with an ex while she and I were dating. But she never communicated that to me.

Only my own. Same with everybody else I could say some encouraging words but it's the person's choice that has the broken heart on how long it's going to take the feeling that you feel inside can only be produced by you you're the only one that can give you that feeling and you're the only one that can take it away is your choice it's your body you can control it. And when you're ready, u will take it away
Yes, but they usually involve vices and poor judgment calls.
