I'm talking the girl or guy you've known for years maybe a decade, the one who you've experienced so much with, hell even lost you virginity to or even studied/worked alongside with: would you still dump even that person, for someone better or intense feeling inside you (of infatuation or lust or love) for this new soulmate who's just crossed your path, unexpectedly and has taken your breath away, reeling feeling giddy.

Even if you don't show them that you're, you know... feeling those things. Ha; what if they're weren't. Even more awkward. Oh well.

Anyone can try to appear better.. but you already built something good and any person who is trying to get with another person while in a relationship isn't worth having.

Even though you may seem to feel intense attraction and chemistry with this person, there is no way that you will know if you are compatible with him, unless you date him for a very long time. People need to understand that chemistry and intense attraction upon first impression is in no way a sign that the relationship will last forever. What makes a relationship last, is COMPATIBILITY, which is something that people underestimate and overlook again and again.

No, i think this is how people ruin their chances of keeping something good just because of intense feelings - which don't last.

The temptation may be "intense" but is it really for my own good? There's more to relationships than those feelings. Personally, the soulmate thing is very misleading and gives the wrong idea of what a strong relationship is.

If anything, it would be good to reignite a fire in the current relationship.

I sometimes wonder if as the name suggests, lady, does it become like the literal implication that soul-mates are people we meet in this life and then are destined to meet up with again in the afterlife the hereafter? Agreed and let's both spare a thought for those who answered the third option of not sure what to think but some intuition tells me people often discreetly miss the ones who got away versus the complacency for those they ultimately settle down with or is it really they are settling for. Sure makes my psychology interested mine whirring into overdrive thinking even incorrect but could be half-correct assumptions like maybe that explains why marriages are often miserable: because too often someone got away. Soul mates or not, surely nobody forgets that one who they just could not have or there were external variables pressures (family, baggage, insecurity, lack of stability, some other issue). And what makes you think that if he dumps you for this new woman, that he wouldn't dump this new woman for someone better that comes along down the road? Because at the end of the day, its only himself who matters.

I don't believe in the idea of a soulmate. That being said it would be difficult but I would consider breaking up with my current girlfriend if I found someone who suited me better. Think about tho whole course of your life you'll want the right person there with you at the end but there's no one right person. It takes courage to trust your feelings sometimes.

Hmm. What about those engaged or long term partners who are engaged who suddenly unexpectedly meet the one. Sometimes I wonder if I had that feeling but this woman was already engaged. But in my head I often wondered even at the time, was she feeling what I was feeling too. Only met her a few times. Never seemed to drop a hint besides courtesy and I also just remained courteous, as you do in those situations. As I said, she already had a ring.
