I think he considered that possibility multiple times but did not give a real attempt to restore things and I am fine with that. I met at least 3 guys since him that I believe are better than him, we did not date but that’s because I did not initiate things.

I was young 19 years old he was 18 years old at that time back in 2011 you know two young kids. I wanted a long term serious relationship and a courtship with him. He wasn't ready for a serious relationship he left me for some other girl he wanted to be messing with other girl go date as many girls as he can not sure why I guess that is a college thing not sure what else to called it. When he broke it off with me I was hurt really bad until years later I met my now ex husband. He realizes that I was the one that got away. He got super angry at me when one of our mutual friends told him that I was engaged and getting married. Long story short I never had luck for love I am now divorce would I go back with him if we ever cross paths? NO. He had his chance he lost me. He even told me your the only girlfriend that was good to me. But now no longer had feelings or felt that connection with him not anymore. Feelings can fade away.

I’ve had feelings fade for a lot of other people but this one hits different

I agree. Feelings fade.
- Asker+1 y
My feelings won’t fade with this one. Believe me I thought it would and for a split second it did years ago when she and I first tried to date then it just increased every day after that

You know... I'm not sure if any of them really did, though several SAID something along those lines (at least according to mutual friends), so it was "second/third hand" conversations.
One ex supposedly wanted to keep things going (probably for appearances and because I'd be stable and good to her...). How she, according to a friend, thought that I would have ever accepted that "deal" is beyond me, but, some people are pretty dense.
Personally, I think other than she was giving up on my stability and my wholesome sounding "background" (it wasn't me) - it was the money, the job, the stability, the surface family background that she probably might have still wanted on some level, but past that, I don't think she's ever regretted her piss poor behavior, nor really ever wanted ME back, which is fine, as once I found out about the cheating, I had no desire to keep anything going with her.01 Reply- Opinion Owner+1 y
The "deal" was that she could keep seeing (and doing) whoever she wanted and basically live a hedonistic lifestyle, but I'd get some of the pretend "good girl" (if that). And that I was to treat it as if it was a real relationship, not see anyone else (this was never said, but heavily implied) - her relationship would be "open" but mine would not. And she'd get my stability, sleep around, maybe eventually get to move in and have a second place to live... Yeah... I'm not that desperate to take that.

No idea, because once they hit that door, they and whatever they do with their life is no concern if mine.
As far as I'm concerned, leaving me is never a mistake, nor is me leaving them. It's a decision made and a decision with no undo button.
They want to end it? Good. Bye... Gtfo of my face and take your BS drama with you.00 Reply

He let me leave him because I didn't want to stay if he didn't have marriage in mind. It took him until I got married to another man a year and a half later. Then he contacted me and asked me to leave my husband because he wanted to marry me. Too late! That was 20 years ago and I'm still married.

I’m wondering how long till mine does that
- +1 y
Well, when I left I had already planned on not returning. I don't like games. Maybe you need to find the right person?
- Asker+1 y
To me she is. The problem was her friend’s involvement
- +1 y
I'm sorry that happened.
- Asker+1 y
Yeah and she’ll honestly not be happy with her dating life until she leaves her friend. She’s not going to listen to anyone who says that to her until she has her reality break moment
- +1 y
Did he realize you were the one but he ruin his chances?
- Asker+1 y
The friend is a girl

Asker would you come consider getting back with her?
- +1 y
@Alwayreckles93 I don't know. I didn't talk to him again out of respect to my husband. I imagine he only wanted what he couldn't have. If I was crazy and went back, he probably would have changed his mind again.
- Asker+1 y
I would but only under a few conditions. One of which being couples counseling because that would be necessary. Plus I’d need to see if she’s willing to actually separate herself from her “friend”.

Trueconfection I bet he regrets his choice for life. You are a good wife.
- +1 y
Asker She wasn't ready for a commitment or a serious relationship normally a girl does not see her friends that much often when their in a relationship. Well at least that what I did.
- +1 y
@Alwayreckles93. Thank you. I haven't talked to him in 20 years. I hope he's married to the right woman for him.
- Asker+1 y
They are roommates so they see each other every day

Trueconfection That is very sweet of you. The good thing is that your husband loves you makes you happy. That is beautiful 20 years of marriage. Now a days it seems like people give up very easily.

Asker Roommates I bet there is a lot of gossip and drama.
- Asker+1 y
There is. From what my much older friends have told me (30-40 years old) that the roommate/best friend actually has a thing for me and that honestly could explain a few things

A few years when all his other options had exhausted, i was over it by then and fucking annoyed at same time, how dare he interrupt my life kinda thing i blocked and deleted kik the last thing he could contact me on
Trust me exes are exes for a reason, if they do regret fuck them who cares. you'll have moved on to better10 Reply My ex wife don't regret leaving me not for a second nor will she ever will regret leaving me she married me for my money and when she could not get all of it she left
I dont regret leaving her
My point might be selfish or cold or senseless but it's valid enough for me
She wanted to take away all my money so money must be a good thing to have so why should not I keep the money instead00 Reply- +1 y
I don't think that's possible. I don't think my ex thinks about dating in the same way that normal people do.
His partners are a means to an end.
And I suppose what he probably wants is someone wealthy or at least in a decent job.
And if that's what he seeks he will be able to find that.
I wish him luck in his pursuit for whatever it is he is looking for in life.
I'm sure he will get it.00 Reply - Anonymous(36-45)+1 y
If I look at my close circle of friends. Some took weeks to months. Some never came back or seemed to regret it. I personally had my ex not regret it (well lets say directly to me). But I did hear that she mentioned to my sisters a few times about 'getting together' (some 3 / 4 years after we split) which I find quite odd. Either way, nothing came of it. I had moved on. Hinde sight, I am pretty glad I had moved on.
