I love my boyfriend but I think he has abusive tendencies and he’s going to get worse in the future and I don’t want to stick around for that. He has had a very hard life and he bottles everything up and it’s spilling into our relationship. He thinks he’s perfectly fine but he can turn verbally and emotionally abusive in a second and then he down plays it later on. We’re just a few months in, and he’s been asking me to move in. But I think if I move in with him, he will end up being PHYSICALLY abusive

Yes, and I have done it twice on the past seven years.

I was dating a woman who was a very good fit for me in many ways, but she was not willing to make me a priority in her life. I loved her and I think she "loved" me in her own way, but that wasn't enough. I walked away from her on friendly terms but I have only spoken to her once since the breakup 5 years ago.

I was living with a girlfriend who I loved but she was an alcoholic and refused to even acknowledge the extent of her impairment. It interfered in almost every aspect of our lives and I was not willing to live that way the rest of my life, so I very gently pushed her out the front door.

It takes love, lust, trust, and respect to make a relationship work and, sometimes, even that is not enough. And when it doesn't work, that doesn't mean that someone failed or someone is at fault; it just means that you two are not a sufficiently good match to make it work.

I’d say yes. I loved my ex so much. But he became verbally and mentally abusive. I still had hope but one night he got physical and had me in a choke hold scared for my life over internet friends I had. I loved him but I loved me more.
