Do we have a chance?

Me and ex boyfriend just broke up almost 2 weeks ago. We decided to be friends and work on ourselves for issues due to our breakup. My ex told me I’m doing a good job on myself and to keep it up. When we split he said we will work on getting back together. he said he will stay in the picture. He seems to still care. Do we have a chance to get back together?

Honestly, when two people met and its meant to be they tend to make it as easy as possible on each other to find ways to be together and work through issues in a positive, productive and meaningful way as a couple.

I never was one to believe that taking breaks in relationship was the best way to improve a relationship. You're basically saying you can not work on the issues together, so it best to separate and work on it individually. To me that's not a good and productive way for two people to over come obstacles in a productive way as a couple. You're basically saying the best course of action to improve our relationship as a couple, is not to be a couple, while thinking you can resolve the over arching issues associated with being a couple, by not being a couple with the intent of someday being a couple. When said like that it doesn't make a whole lot of sense, and it sounds selfish or fishy to me.

What's your hopes for this relationship that you two get back together, find happiness and maybe even someday get married, then what? There's and issue you two decide you want to separate to resolve it individually? That's now how marriage works, neither do good healthy and emotionally fulfilling relationships.

You're basically trapped in the limbo zone between dating and not dating, move on or running back. If you want to spilt or take a break then that means you need to remove him and yourself from the picture entirely, and go out there and see if there are better options... and after a descent amount of time if that leads you back together then great. But by keeping this guy "in the picture" your preventing yourself from possibly moving on, what is what you probably should be doing.

You would do better trying to find the right guy or better guy for you, instead of trying to make yourself or change yourself to be a better person just for him.
