Why is she still wearing the necklace I gave her?

I gave my previous girlfriend a necklace, we broke up (she still knows I love her) and on her IG she still is wearing the necklace but she took off the pendant I had on there originally & put a ring on it instead. What do you think this means? (I have spoken to her in almost 3 months by the way)

Something I want to add is she specifically knows the meaning of the necklace is attached to the both of us being together. It’s something she verbally spoke about with me.

There are two options here: Firstly, if she still has a heart for you then she will continue to wear your gifting and it will not be just jewelry. Conversely and secondly, if she made the move to terminate relationship then those items are assets that she likes and have no emotional or physical connection to you.

If she likes the necklace and/or wears it regularly then this is her way of still utilizing it without the attachment to you (aka the pendant). A ring on a necklace is very common.

That’s what I was thinking. The IG picture shows the necklace but it’s on obvious display. So I don’t know if she wants me to see it or not.

I’m not sure what an obvious display looks like, but if she’s wearing the necklace like in a selfie or something, there’s really no other way for the necklace not to be visible, don’t you think?

First picture hoodie is zipped up next one unzipped, same position, a clear display is what I see.

I feel like because you still love her, you’re over-analyzing things, and I don’t mean that in a mean way, it’s natural to look for signs when you feel the way you do. But the whole zipping and unzipping thing (at least to me) is similar to changing angles when taking selfie’s. If she wears that necklace all the time, it’s bound to be visible, but that doesn’t mean it’s an intentional display.

Well not necessarily. While I do think in this situation you may be overthinking, that doesn’t mean she has no feelings for you. I don't know what was the cause of your breakup or how you two left things, but if you still want try again with her you could always reach out.

Would you mind me asking why you broke up in the first place if you have such strong feelings for her? She could be confused or heart depending on that aspect.

It was because I come from a religious background & when I was with her I was different from what my background implied I should be. I feel more like myself when I’m with her & she sees that. I tried to get her to come over to my background & she wouldn’t. She says I’m not being myself & I don’t accept her for her. So that’s why it happened.

Sorry to hear that, I’ve also been through a breakup because the guy was Muslim and I’m Christian so it wouldn’t work. Maybe you need to keep that in perspective when you have weak moments. You can’t push her into converting and even if you love her you can’t be with her. It’s really hard, took me two years to get over my ex. But it’s reality.

If you were given a necklace that previously belonged to your boyfriend and knew that it’s meaning was connected to the relationship, would you still wear it?

Unless I accepted it with conditions, logically it would be my necklace, not his, so if whatever meaning he wanted to attach to it, does not obligate me in any way. However, if he didn't just disappear from my life, knowing that he thought that, giving me the necklace meant, I should have some obligation, I would return it or wouldn't wear it until he completely disappeared from my life..
