Ex wrote me a letter about our relationship and wants to be friends?

Me (M21) and my ex (F19) broke up 9 months ago. She was a great person but she wasn’t a good girlfriend, it lasted a year. I just got this letter from her friend saying it was from my ex.

I just read the 2 pages and basically she said that she knows I moved on but she needed to get it off her chest. She wrote that she was sorry that she moved on so quickly and flaunted her new relationship in front of me. She loved that I never judged her and that basically I was perfect for her.

She says i deserve someone better than her and that she wrote this letter with the intention of being friends again. She said she knows she wasn’t a good girlfriend but given the chance wants to be a better friend. She said that everyone told her I moved on and she’s happy for me. She says that i hopefully still have her number and if I want to hit her up I can and she won’t pressure me. End of letter

When we broke up she moved on after a couple days and started dating this other guy, there relationship lasted 4 months maybe until he left her. She basically did everything with the new guy that she didn’t want to do with me and it hurt badly. I never understood what was wrong with me but I eventually just moved on. I still think about her sometimes but I’m open to dating different people now.

I don’t know what I should do because I did love her long ago and I’m not sure if I can be friends without wanting to date her. It’s just unexpected and I don’t know what to do next.
