He is going through a pain of break up that's why he is behaving like that and it's completely normal. I think you should cut off contacts with him for at least 3/4 months otherwise you both won't be able to move on and old bruises will revive again. So cut off contacts for sometime and when both of you move on completely it's your wish to talk to him again or not.
