Stay with someone you’re on the rocks with?

Me and my boyfriend have been together for about three years. Lately, there's been a whole lot of disagreement and arguments. I feel disrespected and he does as well. We had agreed to work towards bettering the situation. Yesterday we had an argument which resulted in both of us in tears. Today he said he wants to break up but that he will leave the final choice up to me. I don’t know what to do. I want him to be my forever but I feel that he is just looking for a way to get me to say I want to break up up. He already said he had wanted to but im selfish enough to tell him stay. What would you do?

You should tell him, "I don't want to break up, but I don't want you to stay unless you want to be with me. And if you stay, we need to get some help with resolving our conflict. So, if you are willing to stay and work for our relationship, I'm all in!"

You can always that you don’t want to break up with him but you do want to move forward with him & in order to move forward change has to happen for the better.

if you two aren't into communicating about it or talking, i would walk away sounds like he's already jumped ship. staying with him if not happy will not befit either of you in the long run, go find someone who makes you happy and vice versa for him

He doesn't want to break up. It sounds like you guys try to communicate but aren't the best at it. Learn how to be able to hear and say anything without assuming negative intentions.
