Depends on what you did before he got so angry. If you hit him first you have no right to report him because you started the physical action.
But if he is a loser who beats woman just because he is pissed then it's 💯 the right thing to do because guys should never hit woman and children for no reason at all

I never touched him I’m not a violent person, it started over an argument thinking I was talking to another man an I apparently took to long to get ready to go out, but he’s began to make me feel the guilty party as he’s now acting the victim because I phoned police, but I had to do what I had to do I was worried what he might do next, so why he’s punishing me for that I don’t know.

You should watch out for guys that are violent towards woman. Often they lack the courage or strength to fight other dudes so they will target woman or children to make him feel masculine or dominant.

All men know that beaten woman and children is weak and not acceptable. If a guy wants to fight because he can't control his emotions he should fight another dude and nothing else.

Not saying that your guy is like that but still be carefully with violent men that lack self control and discipline
