What is the nicest way to break up with someone?

I'm not sure if there really is a "nice way" to break up with someone. You can try the letting-them-down easy approach all you want, but at some point, a decision has to be made, even if the other person is hurt by it.

Be honest. Say something along the lines of. I am not in any way trying to hurt you, but I feel it’s best for us to go our separate ways. I do care about you, but my heart just isn’t in this relationship and I don’t see us having a future. There is a girl out there who you are meant to be with be, but the girl isn’t me.
