Guys, What does this mean?

My ex out of nowhere told me he would like for me to stop texting him but hasn’t blocked or deleted me from anything. We were just together two weeks ago, spent the whole weekend together, he’s telling me he loves me the whole nine yards. Keep in mind since we broke up we’ve maybe went two weeks without speaking. Usually I have gotten blocked. Out of nowhere he just stopped responding so I asked him what was going on, and his response was that about wanting me to stop texting him. When I asked why the sudden decision he didn’t respond so now I’m wondering why. Could it be someone else? Is this just another take a few days and we’ll start talking again? He never was like this until the breakup, before that he was very straightforward about everything. Now it’s like he can’t make up his mind.

He's your ex , he doesn't want all the text messages , he is not rude , so he did not block you ( you may need to send an important message , like someone is dead etc ) , he just wants to be your ex and get on with life. Why now? That simply doesn't matter at all.

But why keep telling someone you love them and essentially keep stringing them along just to keep doing this same song and dance every few weeks or months

Put your ex in the past. He has moved on, you should too.

Is it possible he was stringing you along because the sex was good?

90% chance it's someone else. 10% chance he's being logical and knows that it's not healthy to restart a failed relationship.
