My boyfriend of 5 years said he needs space he has a lot on his mind due to recent family news one after the other. I get that i gave him space. He then sleeps on the couch for a month and doesn't talk to me. I asked him whats wrong he said to leave him alone. so i did. a week later of this i ask again whats wrong do u not want to be with me any more just tell me how i can help. he then says he doesn't need me or my help with this and to leave him alone im annoying him. I said its been over a month why ru not saying ne thing at all. he said if i dont leave him alone he's leaving i told him i deserve an answer as to whats going on. He then leaves and moves in with his sister. he texts and calls that he loves and misses me and that he wants to be with me but everything going on is too much. he said he needs a couple months to sort things out and to wait for him. I don't know what to do or think.

this isn't a problem with you, it's a problem with him. he's depressed. unfortunately, he's taking his emotions out on you. i get to be left alone for a few days or a week, but a whole month? you deserve an explanation or to help fix this so you two can continue your relationship. he is neglecting your relationship. if this is how he copes with things, this is how things will go in your relationship whenever something bad happens. can you handle that?

it's best for him to leave and get the help he needs, and if you want to continue after things are sorted out and he's better and has better coping mechanisms, that's up to you

How close are you to his sister?

Maybe just talk to her. DON’T make it obvious. Just tell her that you are worried about him, and that you don’t know what to do. See what she says.

But he has got to talk to someone if not you, then someone profession: psychologist or psychologist.

This is how I'd deal with it in your shoes:-

Step 1) Look at the calendar and set a cut off date.

Step 2) Text him back with this message " I'm very sorry about what you are going through and I have been nothing but supportive. However, talk is cheap. You say you love me then fine, prove it. Be back here by (date you set) or don't bother texting me again. I will know exactly how much I mean to you. Of course, only you can know what you are prepared to put up with, but me? I believe 2 heads are better than 1 (I wouldn't shut out my wife, I'd be stronger with her.)

i agree but he's been there for me through hard times i wanted to be there for his but i feel like he gave up he's now depressed on his sisters couch not working just on fb all day i know he's going through a lot i just wish hed let me help
